Do I just go to my doctor and get a full physical?
We have not applied yet, can I get my medicals done right before the wedding?

How and what is ment by "Medicals"?

You must go to a "Designated Medical Practitioner"
It's explained here:
http://www.cic.gc.ca/dmp-md/medical.aspx

Designated Medical Practitioners

All immigrants and some visitors need to undergo a medical examination before receiving a visa. Citizenship and Immigration Canada has designated certain doctors in each region, who are authorized to perform the immigration medical exams. This page will help you find a doctor you may visit in your country, territory or region.

In Canada, if the nearest Designated Medical Practitioner offering services in your preferred official language is located more than 242 kilometres (150 miles) from where you live, please contact the CIC Call Centre at 1-888-242-2100 to find out how to access immigration medical examination services in your preferred official language.

I think, but i'd double check with a senior member -If your applying through spouseal sponsorship you do the medicals before applying. They are valid for a year from the date you do them, and you'll need to go to someone from a list of designated medical practitioners in your country.
My uk medicals included urine and blood test, and some basic checks of reflexes and eyesight, abdomen etc, but each doctor varies in how throughly they do the exam.

I would suggest having your medical done in Canada. You won't be sending in your application immediately after marriage. You have to wait a few weeks at least in order to get the offical marriage certificate. I got mine in 3 weeks but some people have a longer wait. You also have to order your FBI background check. This is probably the longest wait you will have so you should order it now if you haven't already. The wait is about 12 weeks for that.

When you have your medical done in Canada, be prepared to pay cash. Mine was about 180 Canadian.

I am not in Canada, i'm in the Boston area.
We plan to marry here too.
I doubt I can get into Canada just to get medicals.

Not even for a visit? I did mine when I was just in Canada for a visit. It doesn't take that long and you would just have to call and book it in advance. If not, it's ok to get it done in Boston by a doctor on that list, but it will be quite expensive.

The other posters are correct you need FBI and Medical done before sending the application.
Several Doctors I contacted in Ontario were so busy they wouldn't schedule for 4-6 weeks. I ended up going to Toronto that scheduled the appointment the same week.
And don't forget the FBI report takes at least 6-13 weeks to get back.

Hi BostonGirl, here is the info about medical exams http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/medical/medexams-perm.asp

From what I can see, there are two DMPs in your state. http://www.cic.gc.ca/dmp-md/medicalinfo.aspx?CountryID=2040&ProvID=19007&ProvinceName=Massachusetts&CountryName=United%20States%20of%20America#il
