Hi there,
I have an European permanent residence because I was living there for 9 years before moving to Canada. I will be eligible to apply for canadian citizenship soon (january 2015), 1096 days in 4 years period, I am just wondering how this would affect my citizenship application. I just got my spanish permanent residence renewed in February this year and it will expire on 2019. But I live and have a permanent job in Canada and I plan to live here.
I would appreciate your thoughts, I am really freaking out!

Thanks

If I was in your shoes, I would just state the facts as it is. I would be showing my ties here at Canada like work/ study etc. It's not illegal to hold permanent residency of another country while seeking citizenship of Canada. At worst they may issue a RQ asking about your where about for last 3 years out of 4.
I wish you all the best!

yes absolutely, as long as you have PR status in canada and your have satisfied the residency requirement to be eligible for citizenship

I know this is typically an issue for those with PR status in USA where one should be in USA for at least six months a year to keep PR status. USA PR faces a lot of scrutiny... Not sure about non USA PR...
Do you have to meet some physical presence requirements to keep your foreign PR status?

On what basis did you get your Spanish PR - are you an EU national exercising treaty rights? As I recall maintaining Spanish PR requires domicile in Spain...not restrictive but a 6 month absence or short holidays timeline seems to be the norm....so on the premise you got PR renewed if I was the CIC agent I'd be thinking how do you retain Spanish PR if you live in Canada?
