dont think everyone gets one. sponsor living in Canada shouldnt get one. I found it seems to be a standard request for HKVO recently for whom sponsor living in HK to get one. Unless you provided a very detailed explanations on sponsor's plan to move back at the time of application.
It's standard now because they want to make sure everyone they accept is bringing that sweet sweet condo money to Canada.

It seems like GCKey gives faster and more detail updates than the Online Tool.

I've always had problem linking the application to GCKey because it fails to locate the application based on the responses I answered. Anyone know what the common issues are?

ie when they ask how many family members are included in the application, does that incl the sponsor and dependents who are alrdy canadiians?

anyone know whether below scenario is possible?

a) i have applied spouse sponsorship from outside canada
b) it seems it's likely i wont receive approval yet in the coming months before summer
c) but we want to move there already during summer so that we can have our kids start school smoothly in sep
d) can we all move there anyway first without the approval, then switch the spouse sponsorship application to "within canada"?

any other options?

If your other family members (Wife/Husbend/Kid) have TRV or you are citizens of a VISA exempt country/Territory, then yes you can all move there before your case get approved. But you probably will leave majority of your house stuff behind, since the person(s) you sponsored can only visit Canada as visitors and should act like ones. And there isn't possible to switch your application from outland to inland.
