PPR is valid for 30 days. And in general speaking, it requires the validity of passport for min. 12 months from majority of VOs, some VOs requires min. 6 months.
Thanks for that, Miraclejj

BTW Would you know if PPR is required by HKVO for visa-exempt countries? I saw on other threads (non-HKVO) that some people only get their COPR by mail, with no need for PPR (i.e. no need to send their passport to get a "sticker"). I think this is the "landing papers" that Lucky was alluding to.

Thanks again!

Hi everyone! I have been waiting for a long time after medical done. GC key shows BGC is in progress. How long it mat take to reach a decision? I have submitted case specific inquiry last week. My visa office is also HK. You may wish to check my timeline from my profile. Can anybody suggest me what should I do now?

Congratulation on your 'BGC is in progress' status, you can check the file link above for estimation, but it's really various.

Do you mind to share your timeline? thanks

It is called PPR, but it contained two parts in that document. One is the requirement for VISA Exempt applicants and one is the requirement for non-VISA Exempt applicants. You definitely will receive it, then you, as a VISA Exempt applicant, need to send two photos to them, then they will send the COPR (Landing paper, two copies) back to you in mail (not email) with one that has your photo stick on it.

Did they request additional documents from u?
Yes they did, 3 times if I recall, including for Medical, Schedule A, and PCCs since age 18. Note: I couldn't send HK PCCs the first time because the first request didn't have an address for a VO, which is required by HK police, so I uploaded a letter of explanation via GCKey instead and eventually the HKVO sent a request letter by email with VO address.

Is this what you're asking? Hope it's helpful!

Please take my answer with a pinch of salt because I'm still in progress, but I've searched these forums quite a lot.

How long? It depends. My wife's has taken just shy of 9 months from receiving the app arriving at CIC to DM appearing on ECAS (though not on GCKey, which has a BCG in progress about 1 month before DM in ECAS). If it makes you feel more at ease, my wife's progress had no movement from mid-Sep until Feb. (Again, my theory is that two holidays got in the way hehe)

Also, I don't know if it's pure coincidence, but it seems that every time I order the GCMS notes, a few days later, something "moves" in GCKey... even if the "movement" is simply something nonsensical like documents request line changing from "uploaded" to "more info needed" (but no message about what is needed) or simply going blank!!! (Still blank now btw.)

From what I could see, the whole process could take 4 months to over a year (though CIC claims 80% of all cases after Dec 2016 will be done and dusted within 12 months-ish). Seems 6-7 months is common especially if somehow you avoid all holidays (example, submit your case in Feb so you miss Xmas and CNY :p)

Check the excel for people's timelines at:

Hope this helps!

That's great, congratulations!

Did they ask you to submit two photos?
