Hi Everyone
I came to Canada as an international student in 2020 and have been on my PGWP since 2021 and working in a retirement home as a Personal Support worker.

My question is- Am I eligible for the Home Child Care Provider Pilot and Home Support Worker Pilot program? As I already mentioned I am working as a PSW while I am on my PGWP. Or people who came to Canada as PSW on LMIA are eligible?

No you are not eligible for HSWP.

Home support worker (NOC 44101)

• You must have cared for someone who needs help from a home support worker in your employer’s private home.
  • The location can’t be an institutional setting such as a nursing home.
• You don’t need to have lived in your employer’s home to qualify.
• Only home support workers are eligible under NOC 44101.

PSWs fall under 33102 – Nurse aides, orderlies and patient service associates. To be eligible for the home support worker pilot program, you must be employed under 44101 – Home support workers, caregivers and related occupations

I m working ministry based organisation as personal support worker. This organisation has group living homes to support disabled people. My job duties are not matching fully home support worker 44102 and it’s not matching nurse aides 33102. I m so confused what I should do? Should I write personal support worker/ health care aide and apply under 33102. Please answer. I m very stressed.

Google HSWP program. It is closed right now and will re-open once new program is announced. So you cannot start an application but work with your employer to get the job offer finalized. It is quota based too.

Thanks for your swift response. I guess this is the new pilot program that gives PR on arrival, right? If yes, I also need to get an employment offer in Canada before I can even apply, right?

Correct. Job offer is mandatory.

Unless the rules have changed that is correct. So your employer must be able to afford a full-time caregiver.
