Not sure about Canada, but in US it would depend on what type of business you registered.
Main issue is zoning, so if in the course of conducting your business you have to have public access to your premises, then you would need special zoning and permission or else you would be in violation of law.
However, if you needed an address for registration purposes only, but didn't use premises for public access (example: you are registering a consulting business and communicate with your clients exclusively by mail or online) , then there would be no problem using home address for business.
Above is not a legal advise, but my individual understanding of business registration regulations in US. I assume that Canadian laws and regulations are similar, but I would not take an action based on an assumption, even if I thought it to be reasonable.
