Also check with your school student insurance. Mine covers up to 2500 cad per year for HIV medicine. Though honestly it's not that much considering the cost of HIV meds in CA. so better go to province with coverage.

You are also allowed to bring 3 months of meds on your flight and have someone send you the meda every 3 months if you end up in a province with no coverage.

You have to be mindful of the Province you will be going to as a student. Not all provinces' health insurance are the same, hence not all provinces' health insurance will cover for HIV medication.

British Columbia, Alberta, Northwest Territories, Nunavut, and Prince Edward Island offer universal coverage of antiretrovirals for all of their residents living with HIV. These are the province and territories you want to choose. New Brunswick has waived co-pay collection so if you study there you can also get your meds for free.

If you will choose Toronto (Ontario) you will have to pay for your medicines. Unless you qualify for Trillium Benefit (which covers only a couple of 2 in 2 HIV drugs Dovato and Juluca)., Though if your regimen in Philippines is 3 in 1 like Lamivudine, Tenifovir, Efavirenz, your doctor may not allow you to take Dovato or Juluca. So you will have to co-pay your meds if you are in Ontario
What province you will be going bro? Do have any idea how much meds would cost(3-1ELT)? Also, is it possible to get your meds from Phil? I've spoken to my doc here, they said they can arrange shipment of my meds from here.

I will be in Alberta.
3 in 1 LTE is not available in Canada. So you will have to take 2 tablets if you'd like to continue with that drug combination. Price is 14 cad per tab so that will be 28 cad for 2 tabs to have LTE combination.

And yup you can ship 90 days worth of meds from PH every 3 months.

Hi bro, how much would it cost for the shipment? And how long would it take? Can the treatment hub arrange that or someone should arrange that for you?

The CA panel did not ask me any other requirements apart from what I mentioned on my previous post, if I missed anything here are the requirements on top of the usual medical test for CA:

-Sputum Culture
-Hepa A and C Test
-Repeat HIV and Syphilis test
-Confirmatory Document from DOH
-Signed IMM form for HIV counselling with CA Panel

That's all I can remember. Initially I was informed I might repeat xray, but they did not ask for it anymore in the end.

Yes I had my Medical at St lukes
for how long did you process yours visa? I submitted all my requirements and i signed a from form physician i think to send in irrc

Hello , I'm also a Filipino dreaming to come and study in Canada. I have a preference to live in British Columbia . I was diagnosed last year HIV positive ; tested twice negative for syphilis , once tested for TB which came out to negative ; have tested negative for Hepa A B and C ,I'm also
Hepa A and B Vaccinated. I also have normal Xray's and impressive laboratories result. Also on continues ARV treatment. My treatment hub is in PGH. may I know how much would all cost in philippine peso for the medical? I'm planning to get my laboratories here on PGH since I do have records na dito. Please give me some insights if I have a chance to get approved for a student visa or what should I do more next.

I appreciated for your replies. Thank you.

Hello,

Do you think it will be hard for us to apply for PR after studying?

Hi Gipps,

May I ask how was the life transition then during your first few months in Canada considering your health status. What were the things that you did that you think we should also do when we get there especially with our status? Did you had a hard time looking for a job and will they require medical once you land one?

Also, do you happen to know any hiv organization that we can connect to in Ontario especially on medication matters?

Btw, I got my student visa approval and will be attending school in Toronto. Hope to hear from you real soon. Thanks!
Are you from philippines?
