I have called panel physician today and they said there have been notification for my spouse. They have ordered additional chest x-ray. I am confused because sputum culture have been done and the result was negative. What do you think is the reason for the re-investigation?

Spouse found to be HIV +ve and further investigation was requested gene xpert, Hepatitis B and C. Everything was ok and result was provided April 14, 2020 by panel physician.
Medical report was requested on May 06, 2020 and sent on June 15, 2020. Additional x-ray was requested and the result was sent August 27, 2020.
Medical passed- September 01, 2020

I need help!

Hello forum. I’m new here... got my ITA mid September with a CRS of 473( cut off 471) and was given 90 days till the submission of profile. Currently trying to gather all necessary documents and also scheduled to do medicals mid this month(October). However early (first week) of September, due to the nature of my job I got a needle stick injury from a patient I was managing and after a rapid RVS was done which was non-reactive also history didn’t suggest any risk from the patient, I proceeded not to take PEP. For about 4 weeks now I have been having what seems like an acute HIV syndrome which started with watery diarrhea 2 weeks after exposure and lasted for 2 weeks and then now some form of peripheral neuropathy( started from the legs), dizziness, generalized myalgia, anorexia( lost 2kg in days), headache and drenching night sweats despite the cold weather. Rapid test about a week ago was non reactive. I have tried to rule out other possible causes of my symptoms most especially hypokalemia( result was normal). I am now left to believe that this might actually be a case of acute hiv syndrome. More so in this part of world you hardly see 4th generation Retroviral testing kits which picks up p24antigen and antibodies and can be detected earlier that the 3rd generation test kits. Also if I decide to go for a viral load it would take me about 2-3 months to obtain the result. As regards my application and my high suspicion of seropositivity, should I decline the invitation and wait till to redo the test after 3 months or should I go ahead with the medicals which is scheduled mid this month( of which they might use the 4the generation kit). Also I have a fiancé whom I intend adding post AOR and she is equally exposed from me.

Please forum I need as much advise as I can get... thanks

Hello guys, I read through this feed and found some interesting information. I am HIV +ve.
I wish to apply for a study visa, even though I haven't submitted the application yet, I went for my medical tests.
The first medical test was on 2nd July, followed by Hep B & C and TB test. I got all the results as negative. On the 4th of October, I was done with all the tests and checkups, which included an additional X-ray.
Now I still haven't heard from the immigration department about my medical status. How would they let me know of my medical status if I haven't submitted an application form for the Visa yet? Usually, I receive emails from them if they need any additional information or tests. How much longer would it take? what other things can I expect? It is a case of an emergency for me. I can't contact them through email or call.
any information on the topic would be highly appreciated.

Hi All,

I am residing in Canada and applied for permanent residence by mail so I do not have access to the copy. I am HIV positive, however in the Background Declaration, I do not remember if I check Yes/No to the question, "have you had a serious disease or physical or mental disorder". As I downloaded the new background declaration form checked it again, there is no clear definition whatsoever of the term "serious illness". I am concerned what should have been the right response to this question. Has anyone been through a similar dilemma? What could be the consequences?
I came to Canada as a student with authorities already aware of my condition. I have been regularly following up with doctor here in Canada and taking ARV and have undetectable viral load.
Please advise and share your personal experiences.

Me and my spouse is about to apply for EE with a score of 490. I am HIV positive since 2018 and currently undetectable. I am taking one pill per day “Triumeq” (
Dolutegravir/Abacir/Lamivudin) and after I googled, it has no generic version as they still hold the patent ( please let me know if I am wrong), I am not sure about the cost of my treatment and very very nervous! Do you think I should contact my doctor and change my treatment to the ones that has generic versions in canada? Thanks!

No need for you to change your current drug regimen . You will be fine. Thy will make you switch to generic ones anyway once you are in Canada to cut costs . They calculate the drug costs for the medicine you are going to take while you are here .

Hello. My dad applied for PNP PR. And we did our remedical. My HIV test went reactive and we are waiting for the Confirmatory test. should i start ARV with the hospital near me that recommend it? Or wait for the confirmatory test? And let the panel physician decide whats next? Thanks

My husband has been diagnosed with HIV since 2012 (he's undetectable under medication Genvoya). We are applying under PNP in Manitoba. This is our timeline. Unfortunately the medical exam it's taking very long for approval and since that, there isn't update;

AR: June 24, 2019
AOR: July 26, 2019
ADR: Dec 16, 2019 - (Police Clearance Certificate)
MR: Oct 21, 2020
Medical Exam sent by the doctor: Nov 12, 2020
Additional exam required: Nov 20, 2020 ( Hepatitis B/ C tests + IGRA test for Tuberculosis)
Additional exam sent: Dec 01, 2020

IGRA (Tuberculosis) test takes 2 to 3 weeks to get the results, so keep in mind all that time.

First of all its good to read some success stories of HIV+ people and gave some confidence. Me and my wife both are HIV+ and our viral load is undetectable from more than 6-7yrs and CD4 is more than 800. I am taking Atripla and my wife is taking Aluvia/Ritonavir + Lamivudine + Tenofovir.
I am getting a job offer from Canada and i came to know the company also provide secondary insurance of Manulife on top of Ontario province insurance. Not sure if that insurance would cover the HIV medicine cost. Can you please guide me, if i have any chances of getting visa. Will the total cost including me and my wife medicine be more than the allowed 19K limit per year ?. The $19k limit is per person/application or for a family. Please advice. Thanks

Yes extended health benefit plans traditionally cover prescription drugs. You will need to have OHIP to use the extended benefits so if the 3 month waiting period returns Ypu would only be able to use your prescription coverage after 3 months. You can bring up to a 3 month supply of medication when entering Canada. You will have to look at your specific drug regimen’s cost is Canada and consider any other health issues you have other than HIV. In general if you have HIV but no other medical issues you will be able to qualify but may have to change treatment regimens.

Hello Friends,

I am going to apply for Canadian PR under PNP however, I am worried about my medical part as I am HIV positive since 2016. My CD4 count is increasing and virus is not detectable. I would like to know if I apply for CA I would get Cleaneres in my medical. I have read so many threads about it which says even with this health condition people have got the PR. So please advise on this and what extra would happen apart from the regular steps in the medical process.
