Good night,
I'm HIV+ since 2014, under medication and healthy.
I have a Job offer to work for one year in Ontario.
I did my medical examination and the response from the visa office is taking much longer then expected...
The majority of information in the internet is about HIV and permanent residency. The topics about HIV and temporary work visa are dubious...

aidslaw.ca says:

"The eligibility of foreign students and temporary foreign workers for publicly funded health and social services varies from one province or territory to another. A person’s HIV-positive status should not be a barrier to studying or working in Canada in the following circumstances:
▪ The person is coming to study or work in a province/territory where foreign students or temporary foreign workers are not eligible for publicly funded health and social services; or
▪ The person is coming to study or work in a province/territory where foreign students or temporary foreign workers are eligible for publicly funded health and social services, but the person is eligible for private insurance coverage offered by their educational institution or employer and that insurance will cover the costs of their HIV medication."

What does it mean? The'll deny my visa and ask me for a private insurance coverage that will cover my medication?

catie.ca (Canada's source for HIV and hepatitis c information) says:

"If you are applying as an immigrant, student or visitor, you will not be eligible for either the Interim Federal Health program or provincial healthcare coverage. You will need to pay for health services and drugs either through private insurance or out of your own pocket. Some categories of workers who are admitted to Canada on work permits may be eligible for provincial health coverage.

If you are applying as an independent or sponsored immigrant, student, worker or visitor, you will not be eligible for coverage for anti-HIV drugs and will need to get drugs through private insurance, or pay for them out of your pocket."

According to them I may be eligible to provincial health coverage, but I'll have to pay for my medication.

At Ontario Health Insurance Plan it says:

"You may be eligible for the Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP) if you are included under one of the following categories:

you are a foreign worker who holds a valid work permit or other document issued by Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) permitting you to work in Canada, and you also have a formal agreement in place to work full-time for an employer situated in Ontario which sets out the employer's name, your occupation, and confirmation that you will be working for no less than six consecutive months"

I'm really worried I'll be refused and lose my opportunity to have this work experience in Canada...
Does anybody know someone that went through a situation like this?

Do people HIV positive, need to be labeled? As far as I know you need to take medicals only if you want to work at schools or hospitals and clinics. Why did you take medicals? What is your NOC?

All recent treatment protocols advice to iniciate treatment as soon as possible.
Hiv test is required for any worker or student staying more than 6 months.
My NOC is 3111
My infectologist had to make a letter explaining my condition and medication I take.
The visa physician said it was very important to whrite that I'll continue to receive my medication from my country or that I could Buy it if necessary. It's true and we whrote it.
My medication is expensive, it costs around 600-900 US$ to buy.

Is it better or worse thay I'll work for one year only?
Do they have to cover my medication if I'm accepted?

Have no idea. I know that the US don't have any problems with HIV for example if you are applying for a green card.
I don't think Canada will have any too. They probably want to be sure you will pay for your medicine by your self.
