I came to Canada last year in March, my wife sponsored me but now she wants divorce and threatens to deport me. I have PR and I work here.
Could someone please tell about the Canadian laws about deportation after divorce. Thanx.

Unless you have what is called a conditional PR, I don't believe that your wife can do anything to revoke your PR or have you deported.

Plus...if she sponsored you, she's financially responsible for you for another 2 years.

Unless its conditional, then yes, she can complain to CIC - but they can't take her word for it as it could be revenge tactic and they can do their own investigation
You are PR so don't worry - let her divorce you

So long as your application for PR was received BEFORE Oct 25, 2012, you should not have a conditional PR. If your application was received on or after that date, then you could potentially have a very large problem on your hands.

Look at your CoPR document. If there is no "Condition 51" on there, you are reasonably safe from anything that she can threaten.

Thanks Zardoz, there is no such condition 51 on the document that I received with the PR card. Could I check further information on CIC website using my PR card information.

that rule only applies if you have applied after the 25th October 2012. If your application was received before that date (application received by CIC, not approved by CIC), then it doesn't apply to you.
Your wife can threaten to divorce you and deport you if she wants - but she can only divorce you. You are a PR, you can stay and there is nothing she can do about it, so don't worry.
She is still financially responsible for 3 years in total, no matter whether you're still married or not.

That IS "Condition 51" on the COPR. It does not apply to you.

@ Zardoz, I have one more question. I'm getting divorce soon and if I get married again after how long I'll be able to sponsor my wife. Is there any problem that my spouse will face in getting visa.

Isn't there a 5 year ban on sponsored spouse in being able to sponsor another spouse under the new rules?

As far as I know, yes, a 5 year ban.
Plus, depending maybe on the province you reside, you can't re-marry until a year after the divorce is finalized and stamped by the judge.

Actually you have to be legally separated for 1 year before you are allowed to be granted divorce. Only then you can re-marry the day or the day after official divorce.
