You should explain to your Mother-in-law that nowadays it's impossible to get a high paying job even WITH a Canadian degree. I have one and been here for 20 years. I used to work for the gov. but due to cutbacks and lay-offs, even I am working a job that I am over-qualified for, with a Canadian degree and all. I work at a call centre and started off as an agent and am now on the management side of things. Why don't you try a call-centre job near you, they usually hire many people at once and it is considered better than a factory.

Sometimes you just have to do what you need to do. You should try in any private company, they hire you first and within 6-10 months, you usually get internal opportunities to move up if you do your work well. This minimum wage job will only be a stepping stone, explain to her that you don't want to be jobless anymore and it is your responsibility to be able to support your wife and child and that you want to step up to the plate. Stop being pressured by her and stand up to her. Her husband probably never stood up to her either so she is used to people bowing down and following her instructions. You need to start your life now, the more you delay the more it will hurt your wife and child.

I also suggest you sit down with your wife when here mom is not around and explain to her all this as well, just very calmly. I'm sure she is bound to understand. You can win anyone over when you show them some love and care. Your wife will be the first person to take your side when it comes to it.

I think there is something you don't understand....THose peole aren't doing any good to you, even your wife. They want you to live in the shoes of somebody else because they are so so so proud of their family. There is some thing you have to put in your head. You are an IMMIGRANT and an immigrant must have what it takes to start and have a new live in a new country no matter how hard it is. Come on dude get a whatever job you can find and stop repeating "my wife or mother in law wants me to have a good job". It's about you bro'... if you stay longer without any experience I guess you will end up jobless forever and your mother in law slave

they don't want me to work in factory and things like that my wife and her mother specially her mother want me to have a good salary because she feels bad when her sisters and her family ask her what i work and she will feel bad to tell them i am working in factory with 10 dollars her mother think that she the best and her family too she ember's to say that i am working like that.and i think she want her daughter(my wife ) to broke up with me she want her to divorce me the problem she never like me because she like a racist.she always make fun of me

You need to sit down with your wife and explain to her how hard it is out there. You need to get her to understand that you will have to start at the bottom of the ladder. SCREW YOUR MOTHER IN LAW. Seriously. My mother had an issue with it as well, but now she's okay with it because he's at least WORKING. So. Sit down with your wife and talk to her.

you made that comment in your post and now your making it again, even with all that is said, it seems you just want to start at the top or your post was so that someone on here is just going to give you a "GOOD" high paying job here.Man this is the real world welcome to the hardship and struggles.

here are few question to ask:
1: before moving here were you in a management position in your country
2: do have all the quantification needed for a management position
3. if your wife family is so proud how come they havent called someone to pull some strings no matter where in the world you go its not who you know its who know you
4. if you have a certain amount of education why dont you do go back to school do something and let them help you to find work.
