I received a letter last week saying my husband has been approved and received the papers for the border officers and him to sign, but I just want to make sure we don't need to wait for anything else before he comes home because I found it unusual they sent these documents to me and not him :s since he's the one that's moving here you'd think they would have sent his approval papers to him. Also it says across the papers that it isn't valid for travel. What does that mean?

Anyways, is this the only thing we need? :) I meet him over in the states with his papers and we cross the border together?

Thanks in advance! :D

Did he receive his actual CoPR? I think he needs that to officially land, but I'm not 100% sure.

Did you put yourself as the representative? That's the only reason I can think of that the document would have gone to you.

As for it not being a travel document, they're just pointing out that it can't be used in place of a passport or a PR card, which is needed to re-enter the country after landing.

I think that's what they had sent to me. It had the letter of approval on it and then there were two copies with his picture on it with a spot at the bottom for the border officers to sign and for him to sign. I'm presuming that's his CoPR. Thanks for clearing that up about the travel part :) I was worried they might not be the right forms.

But we didn't fill out the representative forms because it wasn't mandatory. So I'm still not sure why it would be mailed to me. It's not too big of a deal where I'm not far from the border. We're planning to just meet and cross together from there. I just want to make sure that those papers are all we need. It'd be awful for him to drive across the country and him not be allowed in because he's missing something :/. We've had a similar situation happen before, it would be heart breaking to have to repeat that again.

But what I received is the letter saying he has been approved and that he needs to sign the papers at the border. I'm presuming those are the ones they sent with his immigration photo on it and the spot for the border officers to sign at the bottom. I guess I'm just asking to make sure what I have is all we need and we're set to go?

COPR and passport. Nothing else is required to land as a PR.

If he is bringing lots of stuff, he will need a B4 and if he's bringing anything later, a goods to follow form.

Can I ask how long did it take , I am assuming since you say you live the border or close to it, your
spouse is American.

If your mailing address was what he wrote for himself, then it makes sense they sent it to you. Otherwise, it's probably one of CIC's 'errors' which in this case do not have a negative impact. Congrats by the way!

Thanks so much for the info and the congrats! It took about 6 months for us :) we sent the application in the end of December and his acceptance letter arrived in June. Our application was outland since he didn't have a visa to work here or go to school but I read the Outland applications go much faster than inland.

I'll check into the B4 form. He doesn't have too much stuff to bring :).

Thanks again!
