I am a dual citizen. I went through the fiance visa process in order to move to the USA and marry in 2002. We have been happily married for almost 15 years now, but I now have grandchildren and an aging mother that makes me feel that I need to move home. My husband is the US citizen. I am not worried about filling out the paperwork, but I am concerned about a trip that we need to make up to Ontario from FL in April. My son, who had also moved to FL with me in 2002, moved back to Canada a few years ago. He left a lot of his stuff here, and I want to take it back to him. If my application is in process to sponsor my husband, will we have an issue crossing the border?
Your help with this and in the coming months will be much appreciated.

You can bring your things with you back to Canada - including your son's things. It may make it look to the border agent that you and your husband are moving to Canada, and your husband cannot do that yet - he can only enter as a visitor. He should bring proof of his ties to the USA to show he will be visiting for just a short time. He can always extend his stay later.
If there is a lot of stuff, you could always enter with the belongings, and have your husband enter a different day as a visitor.

I would recommend not having your husband in the same vehicle as all of the stuff. You wouldn't want it to look like he was moving up his belongings. Could you ride in separate vehicles?

No. We are renting a vehicle to drive there. I am assuming that our rental vehicle agreement that shows us returning the car on a certain day will help.

It will probably be fine. Yes, the rental agreement showing you are returning the truck to somewhere in the USA will help. He should bring other proof of ties to the USA, and be very clear that he is just visiting. You can explain that these are your and your child's things, not your husband's, if they ask.
