I have a post-graduation work permit which was issued based on my passport expiry date and is valid until Nov 2015, but I was given the option of extending it when I renew my passport. However, I have started a new level of study on Jan and therefore I also have a study permit. If I quit the school can I start working with my post graduation work permit again? Also, if I apply for its extension would they extend it now that I have been issued a study permit as well? What if I provide enough proof that I no longer use that study permit?
If I can't use that work permit anymore, do I have to leave the country if I quit the school even though my study permit is still valid? did anybody have the same issue before?

Hello,

I advise you call 18002422100. That is CIC office and wait till you speak with an agent. When i called to confirm if i apply for study permit after getting PGWP, the agent said my PGWP is still valid and i can work full time. Study permit does not affect PGWP. You can call the number for further clarification. However, to extend your PGWP you can read this response i got today cos my PGWP is also valid till the expiry date on my passport.

Post-graduation work permit validity - Passport will soon expire
As a rule, immigration documents are issued according to the validity period of the applicant's passport. This means that the validity period of a work permit cannot exceed the passport expiry date.
However, if you are entitled to a 3 year post-graduation work permit (PGWP) and your passport will expire before the end of the 3 year period, the Case Processing Centre (CPC) in Vegreville, will allow you to apply for a PGWP extension with your newly extended passport on or before the expiry date of your authorized stay. The CPC may extend your stay for the remaining duration of the 3 year period.
Once your passport renewed, you will have to apply for a PGWP extension. To do so you must send an application to change Conditions or Extend Your Stay in Canada as a Worker to the CPC in Vegreville, Alberta.
The application is available on our website. You can fill out the application online and print it or print it and fill it out by hand.
