I will be landing this month, plus will get back to my assignment in Brunei, what is the maximum time that i can stay out of Canada so that when i returned they will let me in. Someone told me that one can't stay longer than 6 months out of Canada once got PR, is that right???

Actually i will be getting annual leave once a year, if that's the case than i need to take one ticket from my own pocket.

Secondly, my employer has given me option to have salary transferred in Canadian Bank or any other offshore account, My assignment is Brunei and they will deduct 15 % flat tax from my salary even though Brunei is tax free, what if provide them Canadian SIN number and get my salary transferred to Canadian bank, in that case will i be eligible to obtain citizenship regardless if i stay more than 3 years out side of Canada out of five years.

Under what circumstances one can claim Canadian citizenship even if he/she couldn't reside more than 3 years in Canada.

Thanks

Wajahat

you need to stay 3yrs to apply for citizenship

CIC, requires your physical stay in canada, the situation which you have mentioned below may not work for getting you citizenship.

You need to stay atleast 2yrs on PR if you want to apply for extn of PR validity...

If your PR expires and you have not stayed in canada either 2yrs or 3yrs then you need to start the whole process of getting PR again ( I am sure none of us have the patience to do it again :) )

normaly its not easy to get transfer if you are doing good job :)

However I will be providing SIN number and canadian bank details, so in that case my tax deduction will be forwarded to Canadian Tax department I believe, may be in that case i will be allowed to get citizenship even though not living in canada for complete 3 years in total of 5.

Can some senior please advice on that
