So here is my current situation

I am Canadian, my bf is Colombian and we have been together for a year now. We are not common law until next september. We currently live in Argentina with the hopes of applying to bring him to Canada as soon as we can.
I am not working...he is the provider. I am not a resident of Argentina...he is.
When applying to be his sponser will we run into any problems because we are living and sharing everything..including bank accounts...however im not technically a resident where we reside. I border cross every three months to renew my tourist visa.
The sponser forms require i declare how much my income is....i do not have an income. I do however have money just not an income.
What issues will we face? any advice??

Thanks !

Hey,

welcome to the forum...
Living together and sharing everything is what CIC is looking for when you apply for a common-law sponsorship - so you won't run into trouble for that, rather the contrary! :) keep everything, every proof you have that you are sharing a life together, so when you have to fill out the application and gather the proofs, you are already well prepared! It doesn't matter that you are not a resident in Argentina, maybe people have been in similar situations - what CIC is interested in is how much of a life you share together, and how you can prove it.
There is no "minimum income" for sponsors so you don't "need" a job. But you will need to show how you plan to support him when you come back to Canada. So show the savings you have for now, and explain what is your plan - if you will stay with your family when you arrive and they will support you ( free accommodation etc), then get them to write a letter and explain that.
CIC wants to know that you won't go on welfare when you move to Canada with your partner... if your partner has transferable skills, then include that as well in your plan on how to support yourself ( but you as the sponsor have to have a plan).
Good luck,
Sweden
