I'm quite confused about paying fees online.

The Sponsorship Guide for OUTSIDE CANADA applications states:

You have the option of paying your fees through the Internet or at a financial institution.
Option 1. Payment of fees on our Web site
To use this option, you need:
• a credit card;
• access to a computer with a printer;
• a valid email address; and
• follow these steps below.

However, When i go to pay my fees online the only option is for IN CANADA CLASS applications!

Spouse and Common Law Partner In Canada Class
Sponsorship application (per application) $75.00
Principal applicant $475.00

Do I just go ahead and use this payment method even though we are applying from OUTSIDE Canada?
I am a Canadian living in England applying to sponsor husband from England. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Thanks.

You need to choose the options under FAMILY CLASS. You need to pay:
Right of Permanent Residence fee $490
Sponsorship application $75
Principal applicant fee $475 for a total of $1040

The RPR fee can be paid at a later date but if you can, it's better for you to pay it upfront. Otherwise it can cause delays in issuing the visa of up to 1-2 months.

You're misreading the information there - which isn't hard to do. Outland spousal applications are considered "Family Class" applications. Here's what you do:

Go to the online payment url - http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/fees/index.asp
Click "Pay My Fees Online"
Next page - scroll down and click "Continue"
Read the disclaimer, check the box and click Continue
Click "Immigration"
Choose "Mississauga, ON processing centre"
Confirm

If you're going to pay the Right of Permanent Residence fee now, put a 1 in the box next to that. If not, leave it. You can defer payment of the RPRF until later.

Under "Family Class", put "1" in the box for the $75 sponsor fee
put "1" in the box for $475 principle applicant fee

If you have any accompanying dependent children who are foreign nationals and need to be sponsored, put the applicable number in the box at the bottom of the Family Class section, next to this description: "A family member of the principal applicant who is less than 22 years of age and is not a spouse or common-law partner" at $150 each

That's it. Scroll down and click Submit. It will ask you, then, to create an account and will take you to another screen. Don't worry, what you've already entered won't be lost. You'll come back to it eventually and then be able to print your receipt after you finalize your payment.

This confused me too, but if it's a spousal application, you're not sending it to London (even though the application will be processed there). You're sending it to Mississauga, where the sponsorship portion is processed. Once the sponsorship is approved, they will send it to London.

hi All:

So do you think I can use this process, too -- anyone? anyone?

I'm a US citizen, applying outland/spouse/family class . . . My application is being processed in New York (after transfer from Buffalo).

THANKS SO SO SO MUCH! This website is a life-saver!

PS: I am completely 100 percent befuddled by the gibberish-like garbled and contradictory non-instructions I've gotten from the NY visa office and their website.

PS: When paying the Right of Permanent Residence fee ($490) online, do I just pay ONE fee, for me? Or do I need to pay something extra for my dependent child? (I'm not talking about the processing fees that went with my original application, just the Right of PR fee.)

I asked this question and received an incorrect answer. Wish I had searched for this thread!

I can't remember, but am afraid I paid the Spouse In Canada, when I am actually doing an Outland spousal application. It does not specify on the printout. The amounts to pay are the same, can this cause me some difficulty? Should I include a note along with my receipt in my application?

bob'swife, it probably wouldn't hurt to note it on the reciept.. it should be ok but just to be safe.

I agree that it's super confusing!
