Hi all,

Here are my duties and responsibilities on my job offer:

Contribute in every stage of the product development cycle.
Work with different stakeholders (sales, marketing, customers, and others) to develop functional requirements.
Design and create mockups and user interfaces. Turn mockups into production-quality code.
Research, evaluate and document various design and user experiences related decisions.
Repair known defects and short-comings of the product. Provide maintenance and support for products' codebase.
Continuously improve development environments and processes.
Act as the technical prime on customer & partner sales opportunities
Assist our partners through the full range pre-sales activities.
Lead formal proposals and bid projects.
Represent XXX Corporation in a professional, tactful, and responsible way to customers, partners, and the general public at all times, including in meetings, webinars, demos, customer calls, on- and off-site sales presentations.

Our product is web-based. Which NOC code should I choose then? (I'm holding an open work permit).

Thank you!

Thank you for your reply!

2175 seems pretty good. However, my company filed my LMO application with 2175 several months ago, and it was rejected. Service Canada changed the code to 2174. Will this be a problem?

Thanks again!

Not enough info. You're still on the open work permit, right? Are you completing your 1 year of experience on the open work permit? If yes, you can go with 2175 (2174 does not seem to fit).

On the other hand, if you're obtaining a new work permit under NOC 2174, that is what you are authorized to do. If your duties don't match, there's a risk that CIC won't give you credit. Not a problem if your experience requirement is completed before you get the new WP, but if you need that experience to qualify, it could be a problem...

Yeah, I am still on the open work permit and I've gained enough experience, so it seems I can go with 2175. Another problem is, my occupation is Software Engineer on my job offer, does that matter? Should I write a letter to explain that?

Thank you!!!

What matters are the duties, not the title. It's incredibly common for peoples title not to match that of the NOC. If the duties don't match, you have a big problem - if the titles don't match, it's no issue.

Hi all,

I found a problem. The duties and responsibilities my company used to apply for my LMO were different from those on the job letter (but they match my work better), would that be a problem? Should I still include my job offer in the application package to support my application?

Another question is, which NOC type does the new duties fall under? Is it still NOC 2175?

Responsibilities
- Consult with clients and channel partner to develop and document Web site requirements
- Work closely with channel partners and customers in XXX country
- Develop Web site architecture and determine hardware and software requirements
- Create and optimize content for the Web site using a variety of graphics, database, animation and other software
- Plan, design, write, modify, integrate and test Web-site related code
- Conduct tests and perform security and quality controls
- Conduct acceptance tests to determine cultural compatibility with the XXX country market

Thanks in advance!!

Not clear what "job letter" you're referring to, but the ONLY document you need to include in your application is the Letter of Reference your employer writes for you for this application, that contains all the details outlined in the Document Checklist.

If this second job description is a more accurate description of what you do, then I would say 2174 was probably the correct NOC.

Thank you for the reply!

I thought I would better to include my original job offer in the application package. But never mind, here is the new problem, my company filed LMO application for me under NOC 2175 with exactly the same duties in my last post several months ago, and Service Canada changed the NOC type to 2174, now if I'm going to file a CEC application, should I file it under 2175 or 2174? I guess my supervisor would have to explain all this in the reference letter?

Thanks!!

I'm also wondering how did you see the duties matches 2174 rather than 2175? I feel my supervisor just copied the duties from standard 2175 duties from HRSDC website...

Thank you!

Why? Stick to the required information. That is all you need.

You would know better which code fits, it is not my profession.

I would not worry about a negative LMO. Since it was negative it is not linked to a work permit at CIC. Pick the best code.
