Hi everyone,

this is my first post in this forum, but I have been reading you guys for a while.

Me and my girlfriend just got our IELTS results and we already have our ECAs. Given our IELTS results, I will apply as PA.

The thing is, I have 2 years of foreign work experience (NOC 2147): from September 2014 to November 2016. The problem is I got my university degree in April 2015. Will I have any problems if I try to claim the two years? Or should I ask my employer to just justify work from June 2015 to November 2016 and when creating my EE profile claim just 1 year? With the CIC tool to calculate the points, apparently I get the same points, no matter if I claim 1 year or 2. What should I do?

Another question I have... Do I need to demonstrate ALL of my work experience? Or just the ones I claim when applying? The thing is that from November 2016 until now I am working for another company, but I do not want them to know I am applying for PR. Luckily, with the points I get claiming 1 or 2 years of foreign work experience I think we have chances to be invited (450 points).

The "overlap" period where I was working but I still didn't have my degree, it was when I was working on my final project/thesis (no classes left, just the project).

I hope you guys can give some recommendation and opinions.

Thanks a lot in advance!!!

As long as you are still eligible and have enough points, you always have the option of declaring 1 full time work year under employment ( you must have proof for this), and list the other year under personal history ( no points and no need for proof).
Working while studying outside of canada is counted as long as its paid work. Whether its full or part time doesnt matter, they go by weekly hours of work. The only time where they are strict about it is when studying full time in canada on a study permit and wanting to claim points towards (canadian experience class).
Good luck

Thanks for your reply dr feras. And yes, I can ask my former supervisor for either 1 or 2 years to be justified in the letter (I get the very same CRS score). It was in the same company and the same position during the two years, it's just that for the first months I technically didn't have my degree and I thought that could be a problem. But it was always a full time job, 40 hours per week and paid. Duties and responsibilities match the NOC I intentd to apply for, so I think I should be fine reading your reply.
