Help with applying for a new work permit

Hi,

I am currently an international student and completing my degree in December 2014 (my study permit is valid till July 2015 as well as my entry visa to Canada). I am planning to work in Canada after graduating and I know that I will be eligible to apply for a three years work permit. My passport expires by March 2016, is it best to renew my passport first and then get a work permit and entry visa? or should I apply for a work permit once I graduate? if so, would I be able to renew my work permit once my passport expires since they would be issuing a one year work permit due to my passport date of expiry?

If you just visit your country's embassy, can't they easily renew the passport without you leaving Canada?

no, it only could be issued in the embassy which is located in the US

I am on a 3 years of post graduation workpermit. I am Presently working under NOC B category.

now my question is i want to call my wife over here in canada.

What are the possibilities
1) on open work permit directly from india or 2) on tourist visa to canada and then apply for her open work permit from canada itself
