HELP!! where in toronto

hi to all.. i just want to be knowledgable if where in toronto is the best place to settle (Mississauga, scarboruogh etc.) i want near downtown, public transport, malls, groceries.
all comments, advise will be surely appreciated thanks.

we prefer to rent for a 1 bedroom 1 bathroom apartment, tnx
