Hello,
I am in the situation where I've just being asked to mail my passport to CCP Ottawa for further processing. I have initially applied under provincial nominee program, and have submitted all necessary docs and paid RPRF fee. I have a trip booked in the beginning of August to go visit my family, and I just don't know what to do...send the passport right away and hope for them to return it before my departure or fly home and send out the documents when come back (the gap between my arrival and the 60 days deadline is 8 days)!!! :'( :'(
Does anyone know if it's possible to speed up/postpone the process?
Please share your experience on the processing time.

Hi Vlada,

First of all congratulations to you.

Coming to the point, these are my observations.

Applicants inside Canada: They are receiving back their passports within 15 days approximately.

Outside Canada applicants: They are receiving back their passports in 45-60 days approximately.

This is what I noticed on November 2012 group.

I don't see more about you on your profile, so I don't know whether you are already in Canada or outside. But one thing, it's finally your decision, you have to decide.

Thanks,
Sarayu.

Hi Sarayu,
Thank you for your reply. I am in Canada, Toronto.
14 days....not bad, on the cic website they mention 62 business days, though

If I were you, I will send my passport tonight in FedEx. My confidence is, you will get it back maximum by mid of July.

Again, it's just my observation and final decision is your's buddy.

Thanks,
Sarayu.

I will do so, mail the docs as soon as possible. Too bad there is no FedEx pick up on the long weekend :(
Thank you very much for the advice!

just wondering, can we leave Canada without PR card?
it will take about 2 months to receive it after landing and if you travel without PR card you have to apply travel document.
is it true?
by the way, I am waiting more than 4 weeks and according to ottawa, my application is in queue for finalization.

Did anyone try writing a letter asking to speed up the process and return passport right away? e.g. due to trip arrangements. I am wondering if it will work.... :-X

Actually, I did a little search, and found out that we cannot re-enter Canada without a pr card. The exception would be a travel document. I am not sure how it looks like, but I am trying to find out more details on that...

You are wrong. You are pernament resident even with or without PR card, it is just a prove to show to airline to be allowed boarding airplane. Travel document can be applied for PR card lost to show airline when you boarding air plane to canada. Here is some quote from cic website re-travel document application

This application is for permanent residents outside Canada who do not have a valid permanent resident card to return to Canada. Travel documents are issued to permanent residents abroad to provide proof to a transportation company that the holder is entitled to re-enter Canada as a permanent resident.
