hi all,

trv has been rejected and the reason is only

"purpose of travel"

how do we reapply again addressing this issue?

for purpose of travel we submitted...

*hotel booking.
*travel tickets reserved via a travel agency but not confirmed ticket and not paid ticket. (in other words only reserved ticked for a particular date but not issued by the airlines, therefore no booking number, just letter from travel agency saying ticket reserved for that date)
*day to day itinerary..

Also, we received email from cic on mycic account which says refused for the reason purpose of travel but in my cic account, the status is still open and final decision is not yet started so much confused...

Also, there was an error in the uploaded form in background declaration where we mistakenly put yes instead of no and later we send email to them with updated form making it no from yes.

please guide thanks

You have to give us a lot more information. Who was trying to visit Canada? Who were they visiting in Canada? How long did they plan to visit Canada? What is their profile (single, married, student, employed, retired)? What evidence did they provide to demonstrate they have strong ties to their home country and have no plans on remaining in Canada long term?

hi actually my brother(married,35 years old) wants to visit cAnada to meet his wife who is a resident there, and intends to stay for only a week or 2. My brother is a bank manager and earns enough and is busy with bank works so he has to return home soon like in a week or 2. I think we provided enough evidence and that's why they didn't ticked the other except "purpose of travel" I am launching application on behalf of my brother and now I have no idea how to reapply addressing the issue of purpose of travel? your help is needed thanks

The "purpose of travel" reason means CIC believes he may have plans to remain in Canada long term (rather than just visit) because his wife is a resident there. If his wife is a permanent resident then the chances he is going to be approved are probably extremely low.

To overcome the "purpose of travel" refusal reason he will need to provide stronger proof of his ties to his home country.

hi thanks for your reply but in the purpose of travel, they say to upload documents like plane tickets and itinerary.... and nothing mentioned like ties and etc.. and also it looks like they are satisfied with everything except 'purpose of travel', as they ticked only that on refusal letter...

kindly note that there's a reason of refusal like "Family ties in Canada and in country of residence" which the visa officer didn't ticked at all which seems they are ok with family ties!

I am real confused please help me my friend.

My answer is the same as it was before. We see "purpose of travel" as probably the most common refusal reason here on this forum. It means that he hasn't demonstrated strong enough ties to his home country and CIC is concerned he has plans to stay in Canada long term. "Purpose of travel" means CIC doubts he is a genuine visitor.
