Good day all,

I read today that they only accept the general test for IELTS. I have no idea how I missed this, but that is what happened and my IELTS was academic (wrote the test for academic purposes). We received our ITA on the 31st of May with a CRS of 444, the lowest score pulled being 413. I read somewhere, cannot find it again, that if you remove something from your application (my language score contributing 20 points, bringing the CRS down to 424), but your CRS is still above the lowest drawn CRS then you can still apply for PR with the new info, am I correct in saying this? My husband is the main applicant and as I have read only he needs the IELTS results. Is this correct, or should I rewrite the IELTS test?

Can I add in the letter of explination that I wrote IELTS Academic in stead of General and that is why we removed it from the application?

Hope someone can shine some light on this matter!

I am just guessing here, but I would say NO.

Language testing is mandatory for EE applications, it is not a matter of how many points they mean in your score.

If I were you I would rush, take the General Training IELTS, and then add a LOE explaining the whole thing. Not sure if that would suffice though.

Just to correct myself: language testing is mandatory for principal applicant, not sure for spouse. Which one had the mistake? If it was the principal applicant, I stand by what I wrote above.

You can remove it as long as your husband is still above the cutoff score AND if he's a FSW applicant you have to make sure his eligibility remains the same.

Thank you for the reply. We will still be above the cutoff score as he is the main applicant (so we only loose 20points for my language test) and he did apply under the FSW visa. Is the score you are referring to the one out of a 100? He has 81 for that score without my language test.

Thanks so much, really appreciate the reply! Will just explain thoroughly in the LOE our mistake and hopefully they won't think we tried to misrepresent ourselves. This was just an honest mistake on our part.
