HELP...should I inform CIC or not?

Hello,

I am a Canadian citizen and received Sponsor approval. I want to live with my husband for awhile (6-10 months) since we still have 11 months to go. I called CIC call centre and they said that I can inform my VO if I wish to...but they were vague about if I have to or not. I'm a bit confused because I see on CIC:

"Permanent residents residing abroad may not sponsor from outside of Canada. Canadian citizens travelling as tourists are not considered to be residing abroad"
"In order to sponsor, you must live in Canada or provide evidence , if you are a Canadian citizen living outside of Canada, that you will live exclusively in Canada once the person you are sponsoring becomes a permanent resident"

So would 6-10 months be considered a "tourist visit" or "living abroad". My parents are here to receive my mail and all my other things stay the same, still have an account in Canada...but I don't know what this is technically called. I don't want to have my process take longer than it is already by providing info I don't need to. So tell VO or not?

As a citizen, you are totally fine to go be with your husband while it's being processed , and as you are already past sponsor approval, it won't affect your app at all. You can update your address on your ECAS and inform the VO but you don't really have to. After stage 1 approval, they don't really care too much about us Canadian sponsors Some people believe that it might strengthen an app by telling them, that it shows the VO you're willing to make that move to be together so you must have a genuine relationship.

my husband left canada last march 2012 and I went with him to his country and stayed there for just under a year, i just got back a couple months ago and only because we ran into some financial problems so it was better for my to come here and work while we wait for ppr.

but none the less i was there for nearly a year and i never notified cic that i was with him in his country.
the only thing i did was notify the canadian government of where i was living incase of an emergency, evacuation, natural disaster etc. they can find me and help me to get out of the country. which is something you should do when going on vacation to any country.

so thats all i did. but it wasnt necessary to tell cic.

i know tons of people who have spent the whole process in their spouses home country awaiting pr.

I was listed as a tourist, because i just went on a 6 month tourist card. than came back to canada for 1 week and went back again to renew my tourist card. but some of the people i know are with there spouses on TRV or work permits.

Thanks for answering I kind of thought it would be along these lines, but I wasn't sure. Maybe I'll send in some voluntary proof instead of changing my address...feel like it would be a more confusing process. Thanks for the suggestion!

Ok cool! That is probably what I will be doing, coming back just a bit earlier before the process to save up a bit before he gets here. Thanks for the info!

If you, the person sponsoring the spouse, is a Permanent Resident then you cannot live in Pakistan while application is going on. However if you are citizen then you can but most people recommend not staying in Pakistan for longer than 3 months as it can raise an objection from CHC that you are not planning to re-settle back in Canada. And they may ask you to provide proof of intention to settle back in Canada which can be letters from family and friends and affidavits or lease of house rent or owning properties in Canada etc.
