Hey guys need some help and suggestions/ advice.

I have been given RQ and now collecting the supporting documents.

I contacted the bank for credit card/bank statement reprints and they will charge total of $360 for reprints of statements for the required application period.

This is ridiculously expensive for me for just these pieces of paper which will be shredded eventually.

Is it necessary to provide these? Can any kind of other document, may be a bank letter suffice?

Has anyone done this? Appreciate if people who have gone through this provide their personal experiences.

If I recall correctly bank/credit card statements are useful/ recommended if they prove say employment income. Is your application worth $360 to you or not I guess is the question. Submission of documents that are active indicators of physical presence such as a record of billed visits to the doctor (e.g. Ontario Personal Claim History) are key to the RQ as the best option.

I used to work in a bank. Where did you call?

I would go to any branch of that bank and request your account history for the period you need and they should be able to print it out for you. We never used to charge. Even if they charge it shouldn't be more than $20. Ask them to stamp each printed page.

As for the credit cards, the branch has to contact credit operations and that will take sometime and credit card operations are kinda like CIC for the banks with long timelines to get things done. Branches only have six months of credit card history.

I would also add - if you have online banking, Every couple of months when you have some 'lazy' time. Just go online and start downloading the PDFs of the statements from the last time you did it so that you have a "ready and updated" folders for different accounts/cards when you have to do your thing later for the RQ

That is a good idea. Otherwise those statements become unavailable after six months.
I didn't do that for my credit card history. So if I get RQ I will go to a bank branch to get my bank account history which has a lot of debit transactions.

Credit card statements take a while to get from the back office and because they are so understaffed and overworked they want to charge a lot for it...

I've just checked with my on-line banking - on-line credit card statements are available for up to 7 years back.

hi thanks for the reply.

How long ago did you submit this? Heard anything? Did it work well with CIC?

hi thanks for the reply dejaanvu.

I am banking with scotiabank. I called their call center and they said it is going to be $5 per statement reprint with totals to about 180 for bank and 180 for credit card for the required period. They also said that this charge is standard across all banks. I wonder the veracity of this statement.

Appreciate your further input.

if its employment they are worried about then I am submitting my T4's and CRA Notice of Assessments. Do you think that should work well with them?

I have other proof too like transcripts etc for courses taken.
