Hello

I need some advise around sponsoring my brother in law who is having a down syndrome. It is a medical condition in which a person grows by age but the mind does not develop as an adult.

My wife and I qualify the LICO and are able to fulfill all other requirements but I am not sure which class should I apply.

I was thinking to apply under the Family Sponsorship>>Sponsor your relatives but I believe we don't fulfill one of the requirement. I am confused. Can anyone please help here.

Regards

Hi

There is no option to sponsor your brother-in-law.

Thanks for a quick reply. If we are able to produce extensive medical paperwork to substantiate his condition. Can it be done then?

Parents are getting old and that is the reason we want him here.

Regards

Agreed. Even if it was possible there is a significant chance he would be refused under medical inadmissibility.

You would have to sponsor your parents and he would need to qualify as a dependant. Medical inadmissibility would still be a significant risk if his care and treatment costs exceed the threshold.

It's not possible to sponsor him on his own. Your wife would have to sponsor her parents and then include her brother as a dependent. If he need extensive support, it's possible the application may be refused for that reason.
