@carolbb23 its really strange that you think its a business arrangement when someone and their families are really under lot of stress about this situation. There was no BUSINESS ARRANGMENT here and if it would have been I wouldnt be posting a personal query here! Would request at least be senstive!

I was reading more into your story with different answers and with did they do not get involve with personal issues. Like other people have said to you with her copr she can get a prtd and come back since she has her landing paper and they also said divorce this guy and move on. But she can always issue a new card when she gets back

@Bryanna Yes I agree with you that someone can have financial issues and we totally respect it. But if you have real and true financial issues why not say in first place to your wife rather than making false promises to her that her ticket would be booked and this was said before she came to Canada and as soon as she landed to Canada as well.
Maybe his ego.... maybe he wanted to create good first impressions. Allez savoir pourquoi!

Yes compatibility issues are there for sure and this is what we as a family wanted to talk it out and my sis too. But he blocked her and not picking the phone since Jan 20 and neither of his family members.
It's pretty evident the guy wants nothing to do with your sister. Truly sorry for what your sister is going through.

1. As he has cut all communication, your sister can now pursue legal options i.e. either in Canada or in India.

2. As per Indian laws, she cannot be locked out of her Delhi matrimonial home. She can seek the intervention of the court or the police to access her belongings.

3. If she decides to file a divorce petition in India, she cannot include points like he did not pay for her airfare to Montreal. Divorce proceedings would be solely on issues that directly concern her versus him.

4. The court will take zero cognizance of issues involving family members. In the court's logic, the marriage took place between two consenting adults... and not between two families.

5. If she has evidence of misrepresentation then it must be unquestionable in a court. For example: If he claimed - in writing - before the marriage that he earns CAD XXXXXX but after marriage she discovered he earns significantly less. That being said, this specific point can be turned against your sister.

6. She doesn't need his consent if she is filing for annulment (it's not divorce) on grounds of misrepresentation. Go down this misrepresentation path only if she has unquestionable evidence.

7. She needs legal advice.

8. Ultimately, it is your sister's personal decision.... it is what she wants, not what the family wants for her..... whether it is her marriage, or where she wants to live, etc
