Help regarding Visitor Visa for a Parent

Hello Folks,

I am a Canadian resident (did my soft landing in Sept 2019), stayed in Vancouver for a week and came back to US (where I work on an H1B). Have been in the US since Oct 2019.
My mother(widowed) is currently with me in the US on a US visitor B2 Visa, she came in December 2020 from India.

I plan to move to Canada (Vancouver area) in the next few months, before my mother's 6 month tourist Visa in US expires (Expiring on 8 June 2021). Hopefully I'll be able to come to Canada with her once her Visa is approved.
Since she currently does not have a Canadian visitor visa - I want to apply for one and have the following concerns:

1. Shall I apply for a normal Canadian tourist visa(6 month one) or can directly apply for a Super Visa(2 year one)? Which is recommended considering I am NOT in Canada currently.

2. I created the IRCC account for my mother and went through the questionnaire: Shall I be answering the below question with a YES? (considering I do not reside in Canada currently)
--> Do you have a family member who is a Canadian citizen or Permanent resident and is 18 years or older?

3. The documents being asked by IRCC website has me confused on the following:

• Invitation Letter - The letter description asks for host(mine) - Address and phone number in Canada along with Job details.
  Since I'm yet to enter Canada and don't have an Address/phone, what Can I do here? :|
  Also, I will be keeping my current USA job and working remotely - Do I provide this job details in invitation letter?
  
  
• Proof of Means of Financial Support - Do all these documents need to be in her name or can I provide my US bank statements/paystubs along with a letter saying I'll take care of all finances?
  
  
• Purpose of Travel - The purpose here is to be able to live together as long as possible in these COVID times (By adhering to Visa)
  So - do I need to attach a return flight for her from Canada after 6 months or so/or 2 years for Super Visa?

I understand after this - Biometrics also need to be done, I'm not sure how Visitor applications are being processed at the moment. Any ideas on processing times from the US?
Anyone who knows about these/Has had similar experience - Their inputs will help a lot..

1. You need to be working in Canada and have Canadian income to qualify for a super visa. Not an option at this time. TRV is the only option right now.
2. Answer = yes
3. You will need to put your address in the US. For proof of financial support, you can provide your information however it's also strongly recommended that she provide evidence that she has savings to fund her trip as well. For purpose of travel, she should simply indicate she is visiting. Do not buy a ticket in advance. However you can show a planned itinerary. Current processing times for TRVs from the USA are around 170 days.

Is it okay if I provide address of a friend (where we'll temporarily stay) OR an Airbnb.? (This will not be for the entire 6 month visit of hers though)

2. If I complete her application within this week - 170 days will still be after her US visa expires, Is there any way I can expedite the processing? (an extra fee or something)
Reason: She's around 70 and I do not want her to travel to India again in this time :|

1. Airbnb would be better. You will almost certainly need to quarantine when you arrive.
2. No - there is no expedite process. You'll just have to hope it takes less than 170 days.

There were be concerns that she is trying to move to Canada with you so you should try to show her strong ties to India and proof she isn't planning on remaining in Canada. Covid isn't going away anytime soon.

@canuck78: Thanks for your response, the Purpose of travel in her application should define what our itinerary looks like and a potential return date. Apart from that is there anything more I can add to show strong ties to India? (She's a retired government employee from India)

The big problem with applying from a 3rd country is that it becomes very difficult to prove strong ties to your home country. She should show proof of a home in India, any reason why she must return home, her own finances showing she can support herself and her visit, etc. Showing proof that she isn't moving with you to Canada is essentially what you must do.

I just want to avoid making her travel all the way back to start processing the visa from India but also do not want a rejection - What do you guys suggest is the best approach here?

Also, if TRV processing is going to take >170 days - I'll need to get an extension on her US visa as well here. Thinking if this is a good path altogether.

I can't really comment on the best path. It's hard for me to guess how IRCC will look at the application. They may have concerns you're trying to move your mother here long term - or they may not and they may feel she has strong ties.

I would consider the following in making your decision: You don't know how long application processing will take. Could be shorter or longer than 170 days. Also, it's of course impossible to say if the application will be approved or refused.

I can't comment on visitor extensions in the US. I would recommend you look into that now to see what that will involve / if that's a good idea (I think you'll need to post that question to a US immigration forum). The only thing I can say about the US is that your mother certainly does not want to overstay her visit.

You'll need to decide the best decision taking into consideration all of the above.

If she does return back she should remain at home for a good amount of time to reestablish her ties.

We are in a similar boat where my wife and I completed our soft landing in November 2018 and are planning to return to Canada in the next few months. We would like to apply visitor visa for my wife’s mother so she can accompany us.

Can you please provide an update or some inputs about the visitor visa and details of any hurdles you faced so far..
