Help regarding ETA status

What this means ... Anybody plz help me regarding this.

if u will get ur visa then ur eTA status will be approved with eTA number

Bro that i know ... I just want to know ! That .. What do i understand with that message ..

Is it like that my decision is made .. And they will revert me with in 72 hour ?

I know i am sounding bit stupid .. But yes but curious to know .. Th exact meaning !

It means that they will let you know within 3 days (72 hours). Hopefully its good news, because otherwise they would have simply said "sorry your application has been refused".....

So maybe i am missing something here but is the OP from a visa exempt country as ETA only applies to visa exempt. Also if a new study permit is being issued and from a visa exempt country then an ETA is issued with the permit automatically no need to apply separately.

Only when renewing a permit would a new ETA be required and again only if on a visa exempt passport. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/study/

Hi Bs65m,

Thanks for the clarification. I was a little concerned as I have seen a few Indian citizens mention on this forum that they have applied for ETA separately. I am an Indian Citizen and did not file a separate ETA. (+1 to you! )

no bro after your visa has been approved then within 72 hours your eta request will be accepted
eta does not mean you will get visa
and that 72 hours make no sense as you have to wait atleast 21 days

i had waited more thn 21 days bro. and yes it is showing there that my application for eta is been recieved and the status is showing in progress... if my processing is nis started then it must shows the status of "not started"

Since you're from India, ETA doesn't apply to you. I guess you're using the ETA status to somehow check your visa application status.

As you have submitted a visa application offline, you can link it online to check the status.

ETA applies to indians i have just checked weather i need it or not bro.. and i am checking my eta status on eta status checkin tool only.. though i had already linked my profile and.. there is no update since i applied (27july) .

who is telling you an Indian passport holder needs an ETA, only visa exempt passport holders need an ETA and Indian passport holders are not visa exempt but need a visa to travel Canada. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/visit/visas.asp When you select India in this link all it wil show is that you need a visa not an ETA.

Also study permits are automatically issued with an ETA if the passport holder requires one, no need to apply for separately.
