Help! Quarantine in shared house

Just get PPR and preparing for the arrvial. My wife will need 14 days Quarantine upon arrvial in Canada. Wondering if my quaratine plan will be approved.

-We will be in a shared house with 3 rooms,
-My wife will be quarantined herself in a room with own bathroom; I will delievery all foods and necessary to her door.
-My roommates (a couple) will be in the other room and I will be in the third room.
-We did shared entrence.

1. Is this plan satisfy the quarantine requirement ?
2. Can my roommates and I go to work while my wife still in quarantine?

Anyone have similar experience with that ? Appreciate your answer.

All 3 of us have been vaccinated, except my wife gets two shots of Sinovac which canada hasn't approved yet.

Since I don't feel any violation regarding to government website, I just want to see if anybody have experience on this.

And if my roommate and I free to go to work during my wife’s quarantine.

No this isn’t an appropriate plan unless your wife is in the basement alone. Your wife opening her door into a shared hallways would be enough to spread covid. Your wife can’t meet many of the requirements.

You'll need to confirm you have a suitable place to quarantine where you:

stay for 14 days or possibly longer
have access to the necessities of life, including water, food, medication and heat without leaving quarantine
can avoid contact with others who did not travel with you
have no visits from family or guests
Shared living spaces where you can't quarantine
You cannot quarantine in group living environments

Some examples include:

a small apartment you share with others
a shared household with a large family or families or many people
a shelter, group home, group residence, hostels, industrial camps, construction trailers or other group setting
a student residence (unless you’ve received prior authorization)
shared living spaces with housemates who haven’t travelled with you that you cannot avoid interacting with

Mandatory quarantine only applies to travellers who have entered Canada.

Travellers who are under quarantine must avoid contact with anyone they did not travel with:

• stay in separate rooms
• use separate bathrooms (if possible)
• keep surfaces clean
• avoid sharing personal items
• limit interactions with others in the household

Co-habitants should also follow the guidance of their local public health authorities.

You are quoting the old quarantine guidelines that someone has accidentally left up. I have attached the updated quarantine rules above. The updated rules indicate that you can’t quarantine in a shared household which is exactly the scenario described.

you are able to. I’ve had 3 visitors this year and they quarantined in our home, in a room.
As long as you have access to the washroom and food/water delivered to you then it’s perfectly fine.

The size and layout of the home factors into whether 4 people is many people and whether communal hallways are exposed to covid. If the bedroom is far away from the other bedrooms without a communal hallway that is different which is why basements are usually acceptable. Size of a home also factors in. If you live in less than 2000sq ft and all bedrooms are on one floor with a communal hallways you are actually sharing a small space.

Most of us know how the government works especially on the west coast.
Unfortunately each province appears to have their own agenda regarding public health and policing the quarantine rules. If newcomers/visitors are staying in shared accommodations and trying to interpret the government guidelines then that's a recipe for disaster. It should be made very clear before they arrive along with the penalties. We all have a pretty good idea where the covid hot spots are even if public health doesn't want to release all the information.
