Hello, I have read many threads but I could not find and any answer about my questions below:

1. I submitted medical exam on Nov. 20, 2010, How long will it usually take to get the passport request?

2. I heard some people's file was transferred to other location and process got faster, is this something that I can decide or immigration can only do this change?

3. Once I get my Passport request, will it as me to submit the job offer letter kind of the thing again? if so does it have to be recent? or can I just send the old one which doesn't have
date.

4. For the passport submission, Can I go to the Visa office personally and get the passport back right away and land at the same time? or how the process works?

There are so many kind and nice people here thrive to help people understanding the process.
I feel very lucky that I found this forum!! Please help me so Others can be helped from their curiosity crisis and future planning.

Thank you very much in advance for the great information!

1) People who did their medicals in June/July are still waiting for their passport request; according to the current timeline do not expect to hear anything before April.

2) Buffalo has transferred files to other locations like LA, Detroit, New York and Seattle. So far, LA has been the fastest. Transfer of file is not something you can request; its upto CIC.

3)I do not understand your question. You may be asked to send recent paystubs etc before passport request. Once they send out a passport request it means a decision has been made, and you will not be asked for any other document.

4)Depends on which consulate your file has been transferred to. LA office allows personal visits; New York doesn't.

Thank you very much !! Chigirl !!!

That helped me alot understanding the process!!

oh for the Questions number 3,

I meant when I went through some people's postings, they mention that on their PR letter or Passport request letter, it states that, please send the original passport and the letter saying that pnp applicant is still working in the company.

I may have misread that information or mixed up with 'non' pnp applicant. (LMO-worker case)

However, I was very confused why CIC will ask twice for the confirmation. Is this the normal procedure for everybody or just for few?

Chigirl, How were your case? After sending the medical did you have to send more documents with the passport?

Would you be kind enough to tell me what you went through(procedures) after the medical exam in detail??

Thank you very much again for your help! :)

I am an AINP applicant, and from my experience we were asked to submit pay stubs and verify that we were still employed, right before they issued our nomination letter. Once you've sent your application to CIC, it is not the norm for CIC to come back and ask for pay stubs. However, in a couple of instances in the recent past, they have come back and asked for employment verification, income tax statements for the last three years etc.

I completed my medicals in July, and I am still awaiting my passport request. CIC has not asked me for any other documents. In November, I received an assessment letter stating that no other documents were required at this time, my file is expected to be finalized as is. Either you're file will be retained in Buffalo or transfered to one of the satellite locations, in which case you might not even receive the assessment letter, and they may straight away request your passport for stamping.

Hope that helps!

1. Some bad news I want to add. According to the new Immigration Regulations, more and more people are qualified for the PNP category. So if you are under this class, the process time will be longer than the time that it takes now.
4. I don't think you can submit Passport and get Visa at the same time.

BTW: Can you complete your timeline in your profile? That would help other people.

I'm an AINP applicant under the H1B category. I got this timeline following discussions on the forum.

Will we have to wait till April, I do not know. There is no saying what to expect from Buffalo. The lucky few close to our timelines, whose files got transferred to other consulates have started getting passport requests.

Thank you very much for the answer !!! Chigirl !!

I sent my med on Nov. 25 and waiting for the passport request.

it has almost been 1 month and half already but I do not see any changes in my CIC profile.
It still says 'In progress'....

I now wonder if this sign will change to something if my file gets transfer to other locations?

I really hope I can get some response before FEB. at least my document is completed and ready to send the passport...

Q. Is there a way to check if CIC received my MED document???

Thank you very much ! :)

CIC is very inconsistent about their e-cas updates; so don't depend on it. My ecase is still not updated to medicals received. Most times however, they send out an email to let you know that you're file has been transferred.
The only way to check if your medicals reached Ottawa, is to get the tracking number for your courier from your doctor.

Hello, Chigirl !!

Thank you for the great advise again :)

I wonder how your process is going :) hopefully very well !!

Yes, I shouldn't depend on CIC website much because it is too vague... :)

well...

Recently I have a very interesting situation came up... which isn't very happy...

I had an argument with my boss and I may get laid off...

Do you know if this will stop the immigration process?? or... will it still go..??
I've already done the medical and waiting for PPR so CIC will not check again..? ... or once PPR comes then I am free to leave work?
I am very concerned...

Thank you Chigirl :)

Don't change your job before you get PR, if your employer nominated you as a PNP. Otherwise, your case will be canceled and you have to restart the whole process.

I am in Canada, toronto, My status is Open work permit and I have about two years left.

I hope this helps :)

Thank you, Chigirl ! :)

In which case you better stick out with your boss, like wayne81 said.

We are in Canada on work permit. We had sent our medical results for the PR processing to Buffalo in Aug 2010. It's been now 6 months since we had sent the medical tests, but we haven't received a passport request yet. We have sent an email to Buffalo asking them the status of our application, but just received a standard email reply.

Does anyone have any latest data points on what time frame medicals are being processed at Buffalo currently?

Here are the detailed status of our application:

- We received your application for permanent residence on June 18, 2009.
- We reviewed your application and sent you a letter on August 20, 2009. Please consider delays in mail delivery before contacting us.
- Your application and supporting documents were received by the Buffalo office. They are pending review.
- We transferred your application to the Buffalo office on August 25, 2009. The Buffalo office may contact you.
- Your application was reviewed and we started processing on May 21, 2010.
- Medical results have been received.

Thank you!
