There is a mail strike in the UK, so you'll want to use a courier company like FedEx or UPS. When you send them your passport, include a pre-paid return package for faster service and to, again, avoid the Royal Mail.

Seriously? I was just informed that we need a document from there and there's a mail strike? Gaaaa! The trials and tribulations of Family Class astound me.

Are you serious? Today a postal office was firebombed, and a mailman that felt threatened shot three people who were behaving aggressively toward him, killing one and seriously injuring another. That sure is crazy where I come from!

It's not an all-out crazy strike, but you'd still do well to avoid Royal Mail if possible.
why government doesn't want to stop it?
I heard there are other mail services that are working normal way in UK. May be there's a chance to use them?
I still don't understand why it is not possible to come to the visa office in person.
They did put the strike on hold temporarily for the Christmas season, though they are backlogged, and there's no telling what will happen once Christmas is over...
