Me and my boyfriend are planning on attending my cousin’s wedding this September 15. And will be there for 2-3 weeks.

We had been together for more than 7 years. And travelled together to Laos, thailand, vietnam, cambodia and taiwan.

My cousin is marrying a Canadian, she is PR of Canada and has been there since she was 7/8, now 27.

Her whole family is already there, my aunt (since 1997), uncle (Canadian) and my other 2 cousins were born there.

She is buying our ticket and will take care of accomodation and expenses when we are there.

Docs that we can provide:
My bank statement
My Business permit (thats why i cant be there that long, i’m also thinking of just being there for 10 days but my cousin pushes me to do 2 weeks)
Airline ticket
Wedding invitation
Letter of invite
My dads, mine, my cousins and aunt birth certificate to prove we are cousins.
And whatever financial records my cousin can give to prove she can support us there.

However my bf doesn’t have much in his bank, and has no work. Just some gig here and there. But he travel together ALWAYS, that’s why he’s coming with me.

Also, her sister (still my cousin) is visiting us in the Philippines on Oct 9. So i have to be back to accomodate her and her bf.

And he is planning on applying for a Canadian resident visa sponsored by his aunt in the future, if we/he gets denied will it affect on that?

Don't buy the airline tickets until after you have an approved visa.

We were thinking on getting those tickets that maybe you can cancel if denied? I’m not sure if we have a chance tho. So we are 50/50 right now.
That’s up to you, but in reality, even paid non-refundable round trip tickets have Z-E-R-O impact on the success of an application. Even the excuse of your other cousin visiting the Philippines is weak.

You probably have over a 50% chance of getting approved, IMO. It’s your BF I’m worried about. If you apply at the same time, you may be damned, but if he applies after you, he is less likely to get approved. There is no one strategy that will be better than the other in his current situation.
If he can somehow prove his freelancing, or if he is in some talent-based career, that may help.

Even your travels together are weak because you’ve only ever gone to ASEAN countries and Taiwan (let’s face it, they are a bit generous with visa criteria, and it’s really cheap to go there).

He is actually a videographer. So he has alot of events coming up here in the next few months.

We can give it a shot but...

He’s uneasy coz maybe 2 years from now he’ll try to apply for a different type of visa, and if he gets denied now, will it have any effect on that?

Likely not.

If he is a videographer, it may help to submit a link of his online profile, invoices to clients, etc. etc. basically proof that his work is tied in the PH (although IMO, being a videographer may hurt because it’s a transferable job, and Canada has a film industry).

Thank you so much! We decided to just leave it for now. We’ll just do it in the future if we have better docs for support.

I don’t know how your priorities or relationships are, but you can also consider traveling alone. You might have a shot on your own.
