All the best,
I believe ECAS is Electronic Client Application Status. Once you have submitted your application after receiving ITA, you ECAS gets enabled after few weeks of application submission. You can look at the status of your application in this application. As the immigration officer processes your application, he also updates this application with the status. I believe it would start with one line update and as it progress, you will see one more line added showing further progress and so on and so forth.

You can look at ECAS at :
https://services3.cic.gc.ca/ecas/authenticate.do?app=ecas

but why people are stating those number ? what's for ?

If you have 5 lines, means you near the decision ?
You status now is "In process" right ? does this "in process" means its the last step ?

Thanks !
Cheers

Last question please 8) : when you had the 5 lines, how long you waited until you got the DM ?
I have 5 lines now (medical passed, and Schedule A requested/submitted).

Thanks again :)

In my opinion, the number of lines doesnot matter in ECAS,It doesnt mean that if someone has 5 lines,he/she is more closer to DM than those who have 3 lines in ECAS, It just tells you How is your application progressing.

I have seen people having 5 lines within a week right after submitting application, and few others have 3 lines for months.

But after observing people's timeline, I can see that after the Ecas In process, DM comes right away :) as Meya6 said.

Hope, that is right.

ECAS is always in progress after they started working on your application, As mario_AB said the number of lines in ECAS is just to tell how your application progressing. and DM doesn't come right after In process, if you have fulfilled all the requirements and you qualify then only you get DM, and even after DM there is a possibility the application may get rejected.
