Post ITA: one of the questions is:

"Have you had any serious disease or physical or mental disorder?"

I had TB 13 years ago, was treated and now I am fine (I have paperwork of the treatment).
I am planning to disclose that during my medical exam and show my paperwork/

What should I answer?

I am concerned that if I answer YES, it may undermine my application as they do not know which disease I had unless I mention it in the LOE?

Will it be considered as misrepresentation if I answer NO but disclose it in the medical exam?

What should I do? Thanks for your suggestions.

If you disclose it in your medical exam then you should answer yes because even if you say no the doctor will inform CIC. Furthermore although you've been cured for TB, once you disclose this to the doctor they'll inform CIC who will then tell you to undergo a sputum smear test. The result takes some months to come through hence you'll be in for a long wait.

Thanks for this response, I am currently in thesame dilema and just got answer on what to do, I was planning not to disclose again since I had earlier disclosed it during my medicals cos the term "serious disease does not specify the types of diseases that fall into the category of "serious". Anyways it is better to disclose than to deal with issue of "misrepresentation"

What a load of hogwash. By that logic, you don't need to disclose anything at all, since it might not fall under CIC's definition of 'serious'. In the real world, everyone understands that TB is one of the most serious infectious diseases in the world, and one of particular concern to CIC, owing to the existence of antibiotic-resistant strains.

Select it as Yes and then they will perform some sputum testing. Don't hide anything because ultimately it will appear in your Xray.

I also had inactive TB
