The person I want to sponsor lives abroad, I need him to sign IMM 1344 it will cost a lot to send it there and back ($240) and plus it will take longer than two weeks. Is there another solution that I'm not understanding? Is there anyways I can fax it, or send the form some way. If anyone knows of any other solution it would help me alottt!! Thank you

i think u will have to send it and get the original copy signed.....

Are you sure that's the only form you need him to sign? Are there not other documents he must also provide you with? The idea is that the 'applicant' fills out all of the 'applicant' stuff and then sends their completed portion of the package to you, the 'sponsor' . . . and then you send it all in together. Please refer to the document checklist. This is the very first form on the list which clearly states "Original of ..." as with the rest. Facsimile's will not be accepted.

If it's just a missing form, have him fill it out, VALIDATE it, print and sign it and then send to you to sign and include in the final package. Only once validated will it print with the necessary bar-coding required by CIC.

Can't the person simply scan his signature on a piece of paper and email it to you? You can then use it to add it to the pdf forms.

Is that allowed? I think that would be a big no-no!

Exactly, at that point it's not "original". "Original" applies as much to the signature (if not MORE in my opinion) as it does to the rest of the form. Believe me months from now when you're waiting and waiting and waiting (or after they return it back to you as NOT original), you will be wishing you had done things exactly RIGHT. Shortcuts now will only slow them down when reviewing your complete package. Take the time now and do it right.

The best and quickest way, so that you won't have any complications later is for your S.O to download and print off the blank form and sign it themselves and then mail it to you. That way you will half shipping costs and you will also half waiting time.

If printing off the blank form won't work, then have your partner fill the form out in it's entirety and then sign it. That way all that will be missing is your signature.

My god $240 for sending a document? Who is delivering it? The queen?

I may be missing something, but the person being sponsored doesn't sign the IMM 1344, only the sponsor does. I think that you should re-read the sponsorship/application instructions.

I believe the sponsored person does have to sign the form. It is the very last action on page 7 of the forms and says "Signature of sponsored person"
