My husband is Canadian. I am American and have 2 children from a previous marriage. We submitted the spousal sponsorship/PR application and it was returned in late January because the forms were updated. We filled out the new forms and resubmitted. Today the application packet was returned again!! Has anyone else had issues? I don't know what I'm missing. I went through every part of the check list and didn't notice anything. I'm all ears. How can I get our paperwork processed and hopefully approved?

You pretty much have to rely on CIC to tell you why it was returned. Typically, they will include a letter and mark or highlight the form you were missing on the letter. Did they include a letter like that in your most recently returned application?

It seems that one of the common reasons lately is due to an outdated Tax Assessment, did you include one for 2016?

I have read of people having apps returned for outdated tax assessments as well. I sent my 2015 option c notice of assessment and a letter stating I would send my 2016 when it becomes available

Thanks for your reply. Hubby is coming to the States on Thursday so I can have a look at everything, so if there is a letter, it may give me some idea of what's going on. He was so frustrated he didn't even want to deal with it.

Yes, when we sent it the first time, it was the 2015 assessment but we made sure and printed out the one from 2016 from the CRA website and sent the 2016 one with the second set of papers. Would they return it if I didn't have passport info for my kids?

If it is on the checklist as a required document yes. Calmly take the checklist and go line by line. Then ask a friend to look and ask you for each document. Good luck

thanks. I went back and looked at the checklist and passports aren't required for the application to be processed. Wouldn't be surprised if it's something as small as a signature getting missed or something that missed getting dated. Oh well, I'll review it in detail when hubby flies in.
