Hi All experts

I have submitted my application in October and got Aor as well.
It's been 2 months now. All of sudden I realized one thing.
In my passport my spouse name is mentioned as Anjali Gupta. My name is Ashish Gupta.
But In my spouse passport her name is still says Anjali Malhotra that is name before marriage. But my name is endorsed in her passport as observation in one of the passport page.

Now my question is in my passport it says spouse as Anjali Gupta. But in her passport though my name is endorsed as spouse name but her passport name is Anjali Malhotra. Will this create any problem in my application process. If yes what is the way forward.

Please help I am really worried now

Give name change request for her passport and get a new passport.. it ll take 15-20 days only

But if I change her name , her all other documents will have old name that is name before marriage. Will it not create any problem. Like her reference letter from employer , her education certificate , her ECA all are having name before marriage.

It doesn't matter. I'm in a similar situation. My spouse & I got married recently & she got a new passport with my last name. All her docs, IELTS, ECA etc are in her old last name.
As long as you submit marriage docs and the new passport you should be fine.
In my case my spouse new passport has both a new passport number and the old passport number.
I agree you should get her a new passport with the correct name and send to CIC via CSE

I guess the marriage certificate has her name as gupta not malhotra?
in any case a women's name changes after marriage. she needs to choose one name.

problem is we dont want to change my wife last name. I dont know how come in my new passport my wife last name is mentioned as mine last name. So if i endorsed my wife old name in my new passport will it serve the purpose.

Like in my passport it will be written as This passport holder spouse name can be read as Anjali Malhotra(Name before marriage) and not Anjali Gupta. This will tipe up everything. My wife passport also says Anjali Malhotra and all her documents also says Anjali Malhotra.

Please advise so that I can go to Indian embassy and do the needfull and send CSE to CIC

i just realized in my daughter passport mother name is mentioned as Anjali gupta. So if in my passport i change spouse name as Anjali Malhotra will it not cause any problem in my daughter passport

i think you should change her name and get her new passport. her documents will not be invalid because you can give and affidavit that name is changed after marriage. There will be no problem this way...

Agree with cjs. Its not a rare situation. Women world over change their name after marriage. Wimen in canada do that too. Follow what is norm instrad of doing everything other way.
