Hi,

My parents applied for visitor visa application from Iran (66 days processing time) one year and 2 months ago with new portal! After 6 months my father was asked for military record and we sent. No update after 8 months of military record and it shows it is still under process!

I have sent 2 webforms and just received automated response of 'visa application is on the process, and we can not tell you when the final decision will be made'. Also, I have contacted MP and she responded that she will ask IRCC about my application next week. My question:

1-Do you think MP can help to the speed of processing at all? I mean is that possible that she makes visa officer to check the application again or she only can get an update.

2-If I withdraw application and apply again, is it possible that it takes this much time again? I dont know if I have to wait or apply again.

1. MPs have no authority so can request a file update. It may or may not speed up processing.
2. Given so long for a response, it may be better to reapply. However, cannot guarantee response in 66 days.

Your parents are from Iran and your father seems to have a military record. So this is not an "ordinary" visa application. Whatever processing time you see on the website is for ordinary applications with no obvious issues. So you can't apply that timeline to your parents application.
