help on these 2 statutory questions

1. ""Has xxxx been refused refugee status, or an immigrant or permanent resident visa (including a Certificat de sélection du Québec (CSQ) or application to the Provincial nominee Program) or visitor or temporary resident visa, to Canada or any other country?"

2. Has xxx ever been refused a visa or permit, denied entry or ordered to leave Canada or any other country?

I had a US student Visa F1 rejected long back out of these questions for question 2 I have already marked as "Yes" but wanted to know what should i mark for question 1? not sure if USA student visa comes under temporary resident visa?

Is the F1 considered temporary resident visa? If so then that is also a yes in my opinion but more senior folks can comment or those with similar experience.
