HELP ON STUDY PERMIT AND TUITION AND FEES

Hi Everyone!

I am a foreign worker for 4 years and I recently applied to study in BVC. I got my letter of acceptance from the school but I can't seem to understand how to go around with this situation. The school email says:

"If you wish to accept our offer of admission please do so within FOURTEEN DAYS of receipt of the email, otherwise your seat will be offered to the next qualified candidate. To accept our offer of admission you are required to pay the first semester fees of your program."

The first semester tuition fees amounts to $5500++.

I don't understand why I have to pay right away since I haven't applied for a study permit yet. Can somebody explain this to me? I'm doing a Fall intake for next year, is it really that early to pay the tuition and fees, and will this be refunded if ever a study permit is denied? What are my chances of getting a study permit since I'm under a work permit now? I got accepted to a practical nursing course(2 years). Can anybody help me with this topic please? Thanks.

Hi Galen,

Practical nursing is a program in high demand and therefore they require you to pay the 1st semester fees right away in order to reserve your place. You can wait until you receive original letter of acceptance via post and check it's expiry date. If it has an expiry date of 14 days then Yes you will definitely have to pay the fees within that period or you will lose your place. If you don't wish to wait for that long, it would be a good idea to ring up your college and get things cleared up !

hey most of the colleges refund your fee if you are denied study permit without any objection but to be on the safer side checkout there refund policy before going ahead. Also if you are working in Canada in a related field and have sufficient funds for the course you have a fairly good chance of getting the study permit. The fee part is some thing which is dependent on university they won't change rules for you so if every thing else is in place go ahead and deposit the fee.
