AUG 2016
Hi all,

My spouse and I are on Post Grad Open Work Permits and it expires in MAY 2016 for both of us.

I have a PR application in process for which I will hear something soon.

I am the primary applicant and I have added my spouse to my application

I will apply BOWP and SOWP after 15 May. If I go on implied status, Can my spouse stay with me?

Thanks a ton,

I'm sure you already know that you have to apply before your current permit expires. But yes, your spouse can stay with you.

Thank you. Yes I will make sure it reaches Ottawa before my current wp expires.

In case I get approved, upon landing if officer ask, what is your current status I can say I am on implied. Not sure what my spouse will say.

When you apply for BOWP for you and your spouse as dependent, you will see 2 separate applications under your mycic account and you will get confirmation pdfs for both as well. Print and take them with you when landing if you get the COPR meanwhile. And to answer you question correctly your spouse is also on implied status.

I hope that helps, don't worry you will be fine as long as you have both application numbers.

Thanks mate. #LifeSaver ;D

Make sure you mention in your spouse's application that she is dependent and you're the primary applicant, also attach your AOR and marriage certificates in both applications.

You should be applying for BOWP for both of you and not SOWP for your spouse.

If you need any help on BOWP and you are currently on Open Work Permit, leme know.

Sorry, this is not correct. Only the principal application is eligible for the BOWP. Spouses are eligible for an open work permit based on the BOWP.

Since you can apply for both at the same time, it is a technicality.

If your spouse applies for the SOWP, s/he will also have implied status.
