Help Needed

Hi,

I need help regarding my status in Canada. My current work permit is due to expire this Sunday, the 21st. I applied for PR in April and received my AOR that month also. I have also applied for my BOWP, nearly 5 weeks ago but have not heard anything back on this yet.

My problem is that i have to leave the country tonight and will not be returning until next Tuesday, the 23rd. I want to make sure i am able to re-enter. Has anyone got any information on this or has anyone done this before.

If you have a valid TRV you can re-enter Canada.

- Have you applied Paper application for BOWP?
- WP /BOWP is not required to re enter in canada , do you have valid visa ? If yes till when ?
- Once you apply fro WP/ BOWP and till no decision made , you will be consider and implied status . and you can stay in canada

I applied by paper yes.

My visa runs out while i am away. I am only going to the US. I want to be sure that i can re-enter canada

Take a photocopy of your AOR and your BOWP application. But if there's any way you can reschedule the trip, you might want to consider it...

- you will lose "implied status" and won't be able to work when you return, until you receive your BOWP. Not sure if a VO at the border can help you at all with that. Since you're visa-exempt, you'll probably be admitted as a visitor.

- You should also be aware that there's a vaguely written rule that you must be in Canada to be eligible for a BOWP, we don't really know if that means you're allowed to travel outside of Canada and remain eligible.
