Hi All,
Here is the situation and I need your inputs.
1- My sister is studying as an International student (with valid study permit)
2 - Her husband got the TRV for 1 month only and now he wants to apply for spousal open work permit now as the TRV is going to expire very soon (in next 1 week it will expire)
3 - What is the best plan ? to apply for spousal open work permit INSIDE canada or OUTSIDE canada ?
4 - Once he applies for spousal open work permit does he need to apply for TRV separately OR
He will receive his TRV along with open work permit (if approved of course) and no need to apply separately ?

Any help is much appreciated. Let me know if you need more details.
Looking forward for inputs.
Thanks !

Better to apply outside Canada. You should get a TRV with open work permit, is not you have to apply seperately.

Thanks for replying back.
But the application is ready to submit.
What do you think if apply inside Canada , go back to India and then once he receives his open work permit (with TRV) come back to Canada ?

How can you do that, passport needs to be submitted if you want new TRV and permit. Don't need to complicate and just apply from India

Better and cheaper is to apply yourself. If your agent is askng for$1700 then you already saved that if you apply by yourself. That amount goes a long way towards paying for monthly rent and groceries (and a couple of movies at the cinema, timmie’s and poutine, etc). Besides, agents and lawyers do not have any influence in VO’s decision. These representatives will just file the documents on your behalf which you can easily do by utilizing the checklist of documents from the IRCC website. If there are unclear things in the IRCC documents and forms, you can ask for help here at the forum for free.

Thank you Canuck78 and Rogelcorral, May I ask if the proof of funds to apply for Spouse open work permit can be through my relatives as my sponsor? or it should come from her relatives? we are already married so I was thinking that my previous sponsor for my study permit can also be her sponsor for the Spouse open work permit application.

You need to show your current funds. Your spouse can't use your sponsor's proof of funds. Spouses of international students are not guaranteed visas.

oh Okay thank you for that. But what I've heard is that it's okay to put a lump sum of money directly to my account so I can just borrow money. That's what my friends did. Is that okay?
