Dear All,

I recently go engaged after a lot of struggles.
I have a few questions if anyone can answer them or help me, that would be much appreciated.

1- Is it a good idea to hire a lawyer for spousal sponsorship?
2- Do I need a co-Signer for spousal sponsorship?
3- How to divide all the files in 3 parts?
4- I have a full time job as Assistant Manager in a clothing store since 2016, does my income has an impact on spousal sponsorship?

Your help and assistance is much appreciated in this regard.

1-You have to get married first, get your marriage certificate before applying for spousal sponsorship. Make sure to take a lot of pictures of your wedding and after.
2- You don't need a co-signer for spousal applications. But make sure you are not a bankrupt, and don't have criminal history. And not on welfare.
3-Just follow your check list, organize your file base on your check list. Check list has to be current from 2017. Don't use any dividers, staples or files. Use elastic band.
4-You just need a letter from your employer stating your salary, position and etc. Detailed letter. HR knows how to write those letters. All you have to show that you are employed and able to sponsor your spouse. Attach income tax statement from previous year. And just read complete guide from the website.
Good luck

1- I got married and have a lot of photos from my marriage and our vacation almost 3000 photos.
2- I’m not bankrupt or in social services.
3- I have downloaded the 2017 checklist and will prepare my files based on that.
4- my employer can provide me a letter in this regard. I have my income tax files from all the years since I came to Canada.

Thank you very much for this helpful reply, much appreciated.

Just a quick note.. I think now you can only send in 20 pictures of your relationship.. so choose them wisely.

The forms get updated from time to time.. Make sure you are always working from the most up to date ones.

Before sending (as in the day OF sending!) check the forms you have filled in against the current ones online.

I am permanent resident in Canada and my husband is in Asia, so we planned and went to the third country in order to get married and now he went back to my home country and I came to Canada to start the sponsorship for him, we did not get married inside Canada.

Oh thank you. Has he ever visited you in Canada?

Do I need to attach all original documents or copies as well

Documents that are not in English must be translated by certify translator and notarized. Letter from employer has to be original. Before sending all your documents make a copy for yourself. Just follow the guide

I’m a Permanent Resident in Canada, I would like to first apply spousal sponsorship for my husband then after IRCC received the file, can I travel outside Canada to meet my husband again or not?

Came up with another question:

There is a list of 5 people I should write in our Relationship Forms, who knows about our relation.
So i have given family members and friends contact details, do they need to write an Affidavit or no?
