I know this is not the right section to post it, but I need an urgent help regarding flagpoling. I live in Edmonton, I have just completed 2 years Masters program and planning to go to flagpole tomorrow to get the pgwp at the Canada US border but not sure as to which address to reach...Google says it to be "Local Address:
Highway #2 South
P.O. Box 699Cardston AB T0K 0K0", which I retrieved

But when I put this address in google maps, the location shown is not exactly at the border but a bit far from there. Has anyone from Alberta done flagpoling? Is this the correct address? If not, can anyone tell me the correct address in Alberta to flagpole please?

Yes I know several acquaintances who got PGWP by flagpoling within last recent week

My information may be a bit outdated, but as far as I know, you cannot get a PGWP by flagpoling. You will have to apply for a PGWP first. Once the application is approved, you will get a letter from the CIC stating that your PGWP has been approved.

Legally, you can get a WP only from outside Canada. Therefore, once you received the approval letter, you can technically flagpole and get your PGWP issued at a CIC border post. However, all this is dependent on you having an approval letter (similar to the letter you might have got with your passport when your study permit was approved).

Please be care leaving Canada even for flagpoling since you may not be eligible for re-entry!

I am not understanding why do you need flagpole for PGWP. I have got my PGWP on Dec 27 ,2012 after I've successfully finished my study in Canada, just applied in online and got it by MY CIC. Once the application is approved, you will get a letter from the CIC stating that your PGWP has been approved.

Then you will receive PGWP original copy by mail. That's all. I'm not sure if any changes happens recently.

Hello,

Has anyone got BOWP (Bridging Open WP) using flagpoling?
can a WP be extended at the border ?

Hi Ustaad,

I just finished my program from SAIT in Calgary and planning on going to the Coutts (Alberta/US) border. Did you flagpole there? Did they issue you the PGWP there? please let me know.

Thanks

Heyyy

I went to Carway border. They will just ask you did you apply online? Then why are you here etc etc but will then calmly issue you the permit. I got a 3 year PGWP from there

Thanks

Thanks Ustaad, what answer did you give when they asked why you didn't apply online?

I had applied online by that time but since it was taking forever, I said that employers don't agree on the 'Implied' Status and they need actual work permit document to confirm the employment so I came here to seek your help.

You can say the same, citing that online process is damn slow

Okay thanks. Actually, I have not applied online yet. Do you think I should before i go there? I want to drive down there on Wednesday morning.

Not necessary to apply online and waste 255 dollars. Just go there and say you did not apply online as it takes too long. They will also charge you 255 dollars

Thanks a lot
