Help needed on study permit application

hello friends, I m applying for student permit under sds category. And there is one question in IMM1294 that I do not quite understand, which is "have you previously applied to enter or remain in Canada?". The case is that I had applied for Quebec Immigration several years ago and only got a file number till now, so what answer is appropriate for me: yes or no?

so please help me if you know about this and your help will be appreciated!

You gave your answer... You have applied before... I think you are given a space to explain further about it..

Wolf, thanks a lot for your help. To my understanding, the question actually means "apply for visa to Canada", so are you sure for my case the answer should be yes from the official point of view cause I feel really hard to explain about it..........thanks again.

May I ask what has happened? what did you do finally? did you get your permit?
