Hi All,

Pardon me if I posted at the wrong section of the forum.

I am a Singaporean planning to move and work in Canada. May decide to apply for PR or even citizenship in future.

However I am unsure of the processes/steps and regulations that I need to conform to.
Could someone kindly enlighten me.

Currently, working as a Sales Engineer with a diploma in Manufacturing Engineering (Robotics) from Nanyang Polytechnic and a degree in Business Management (Marketing) from RMIT. Should I fall under the CEC category?

Please advise.
Thank you very much and have a nice day ahead.

Cheers
Alex

What you are asking for is very very difficult. Firstly, the chances of you being granted a work permit in order to even step foot in Canada without a job offer is hard. The other problem is that most employers perfer to hire people who are legally allowed to work in Canada.

To put it simply, unless you have a very attractive skillset or talent that are even better than local Canadians, it is next to impossible. So you see the issue here? I suggest that you perhaps start looking at potential jobs available and see if you can get at least snag a phone interview and hopefully get them to help apply for a work permit. To also highlight, if you intend to use technical or engineering skillsets, most positions like those would require local Canadian licences and since you don't have any, that means you lose out as well. It is very different from the labour market in Singapore where the government is more liberal towards foreign talents.

I really don't want to be a wet blanket and tell you there is no way out but perhaps you should also research abit and ask yourself which part of Canada you intend to work in. Canada is huge unlike Singapore and different provinces requires different people with different skillsets. Next, have you visited Canada before? You may want to make a trip here then try to ask around organisations or companies to see if you could perhaps meet potential employers in person.

For starters try: canada.ca/en/services/jobs/find.html
