Hi everyone,
I am really sad as I am writing this. My husband works as an interpretor for the US government in the largest prison of afghanistan POL E CHARKHI PRISON which also holds hostage some of the most dangerous criminals and terrorists that my husband sometimes has to interact with unfortunately.

I recently was informed that my husband was just 100 meters away from yet another bomb blast in Kabul, Afghanistan targeting the people he works for (US government), his colleague was injured badly because he was in a car right behind the americans who the attack was targeted at and his car was instantly blown to pieces and he's been burned badly. My husband has really been scarred this time with all the blood he witnessed and all the blood that ended up on his clothes, because it could have been him instead of his colleague, he could have DIED.... he has completely changed, he isnt the same anymore...he has really been down these past few days and every single day he goes to work he is afraid and i am also afraid for him.

This isnt the first time his life has been in danger like this, many times in the past he has gotten threatening calls from former jailees or accomplices/family members and friends of people in the jail calling him a "traitor" for working for the US government and telling him if they found him they would kill him, he had to change his number many times because of this. People have called him telling him all the way from Pakistan saying they are coming for him (dangerous terrorists). First of all just imagine how dangerous his job is if these people can even find his NUMBER!

Anyways, I have been engaged to him for many years now but only got married back in August 2013 and submitted a spousal sponsorship application in Oct 2013 and it was sent to Islamabad in Nov 2013 and then New Dehli in Jan 2014 (as part of an effort to improve service it was said in the email). My question to you guys is there ANYTHING I can do to get him out of there faster because honestly I am very scared for his life and he is my EVERYTHING....there must be something I can do, someone I can tell about the danger of his life so he can get special consideration or something....its so hard for me now after this to stay calm and just hope for the best because he was in such a CLOSE encounter.

What if he applies for the special immigrant visas they US government offers for afghan interpretors? I will do anything to get him out of there. The reason why he never applied for that visa is because of his engagement to me he knew he would want to be in Canada anyways so why apply for a US Visa? I just want the fastest possible way out now....who can i talk to about this? can i apply for any other sort of visa that will get him out of there faster?

Sorry i wrote so much I am so lost right as to what to do...i cant just wait...what if my application takes years, what if something happens to him in that time? :'( :'(

That's unfortunate and sorry about your husband. I think the best option for you would be to reach out to your local MP and see if he is able to help in any way possible. Your case is still in the early stages, but if you're able to convince your MP to bring his case forward to an earlier date (as unfair as it would be to those who applied before you) that would help.
Otherwise, I personally have no experience, but if he does work with the US forces, I've heard of people getting a visa to the US if there is danger to their lives. I have no idea about the process though. Sorry, hopefully there is someone who is more knowledgeable than me who can help you

I am sorry to hear about your situation. It is not easy to go through something like this. However, in light of all of this I think your husband should try to obtain whatever Visa the US is offering him. Based on his type of job there, and the fact that he has interactions with prisoners and terrosits sometimes on a daily basis, his security clearance will take a very long time. I personally know of cases where an applicant was denied PR visa to join his wife simply because he was former military/police and Canada suspected he may have taken part in something, the key word here is "suspected" as in the cases I know there was no evidence at all of war crimes or otherwise.

An MP will not help, especially since recent developments in the anti terror war staged by Canada on its citizens/PRs. Her husband is in a difficult situation, and CIC, and CSIS will not allow for someone that interacts with terrorists (as interpreter) to skip any required security clearance. And the clearance unfortunately will be very long, involving many agencies. Due to his job, he will be investigated 100X closer than any other applicant.

Wouldn't they have to do the same security checks if he decides to immigrate to Canada via US?

Write an email to ND, not sure how they will investigate it as people can write all sorts of reasons ( genuine or not ) to expedite cases. If you have some proofs etc, then attach that and request for Program Manager to consider expedition of case. Other than that, try MP - they can only pass the same info to them
Rest is your luck

Yes, but he would be safe in the US while waiting for his PR for Canada.

Hello!

Just wanted to say that I know how you feel :(
I'm living with my husband in Damascus, Syria and I am VERY anxious to get his paperwork finished so we can get out of here. I am not going back to Canada without him (it is hell being away when your loved one is in such a situation, as you know very well!)

I have heard the same thing (as mentioned above) that due to where we live (and where your husband is living) they will be examined under a microscope. That is to say while they are "officially" expediting Syrian paperwork, since my husband is Syrian they will want to check him out THOROUGHLY with many many security checks.

Have you filed the paperwork already? We're including a cover letter with ours, explaining our situation and pleading for timely processing. I'm sure it doesn't really do much, but it's worth a try!

Good luck!

Salam,
Dear sisters & brothers we know we have been all waiting to receive ( Medical, Re-Medical, Decision Made, Passport Requests ).
Even my family case has been running since January 2008 in Islamabad... 11 Months Since my family did their Medicals in Islamabad IOM office but yet no PPR request ( one month is remaining for medical expiry date ) i am quite sure that my family has to do another Medical test also.
I know all are tired of this frustrated immigration process... but i hope all to accept an additional patient until this process gets finalized finally.
Sincerely
Your anxious Sister
Wajea
